Is Fibre Optic replacing Telephone Lines for Internet ?

  so is the new fibre optic cable gonna replace all telephone lines for the internet ?

  if not so, i don't want to install the fibre optic point leh, so troublesome !

  so how ? a must to install ?

  is not a must....it similar to SCV cable point when they started the island wide cable project back in 1995, lots of enquiry cause it something new to Singapore - pay tv services, so some installed but some don't. Along the way, SCV provided more services such as internet broadband, and it become overwhelming cause it charge a flat rate instead of hourly charges by singtel....so, your questioned is any new services coming up for singtel ?

  it's gd to let them install for you for free..else u have to pay 200+ to get it installed next time round..

  Now they don't charge you for the first 15metres, next time you want, they charge you 33 bucks every 5metres. Your choice.

  Cat 6 utp calbe not enough. they're installing fibre optic cable, which transmit through light, it much faster in term of speed.....
