Hello everyone. Just graduated from Poly from biomedical science and looking to go to university. From my Gpa, seems quite hopeless to go to to Ntu/ Nus. Did some research on my part and found out that only two private uni in singapore offers degree in science.
Mdis and Psb Academy.
While Mdis offers honours and day classes, Psb does not and is night classes.
Any advice among the two ? Which of the two is more recognisable ?
Let me tell you a simple and honest truth.
Go out to work first before taking any degree in science. before you regret.
MDIS
= 2 to 2.5 years after cut off. ~28k.
= Take 3-4 subjects at the same time and exams, like Poly.
PSB
= 4 years minimum after cut off. ~ 30+k.
= Take one module at a time and exam after like 1 month plus.
as far as I know, UniSIM is the only private university in Singapore.
why dun u go to australian uni, as in study in Australia.
u will only need to study for 1 year before graduating with a degree, as poly grad got exemptions for 1st and 2nd year.

True, get a job first then you will know what you need to pursue in your university education.
Forget about both Mdis and Psb, you might want to save enough to pursue your education overseas, with an opportunity to migrate overseas for good.
SIM dont offer degree in science meh???
curtin uni got a campus in balestier, newly setup last year in 2009.
Cause i dont want go overseas mah thats why....
curtin is business based right?
studying in aus is ~ 50K $_$ oh the horror
Ya even more exp. As far as i know, sim, smu all those all no science degree. All on engineering/ business etc etc

Then it's easy, pick the one that will allow you to graduate the earliest with the least costs.
Studying the best private university doesn't guarantee you the best company to work for, the best position to work in, the best money to be paid for.
With every extra month that you will need to study for your degree, that X amount of money will be eaned by people who graduated earlier than you and are working already.
The purpose of working is to earn as much money as you can within the shortest possible time. Not to study the most and waste money on education then try to earn back the money you have invested into your education.
Even if you managed to do that with positive figures, you will still lose out to the amount of time you have wasted.
Try to buy back that time with money then.

Biology stuff etc, bacteria all those loh. Unless you really interested in that i wont advice you go in ba..... plus this type i think need further study, if not useless...
what poly are you from ??
if not biomedical science, how about those like biotechnology or molecular biotechnology? what do they do in the course? is it the same as biomedical sciences? anyway if study biomedical science, what can we work as ? something like a doctor or what? anyway why useless ?
p.s anyway some of my seniors took up accountancy courses and they told me that in their classes alot of the people there took triple sciences and do not have poa as foundation in sec sch.
so if i never take biology, not even in combined sciences, will i be at disadvantage when applying for courses mentioned above ? or when in poly they still teach what people learn in sec sch so those never bio in sec sch wont lose out?
how about studying another course, like accounts or finance, another option for you.

I am from NP. In biomedical no further studies = lab assistant = low money. And no way you can be a doctor. Nus school of medicine is the hardest to get in school ever. Not only you need to have a perfect score/ near perfect score. But you also need recomendation letters from your teachers. A portfolio of yourself, good cca records, and a interview maybe.
You can. But of course some basic knowledge is no harm.
if poly people want go uni, MUST have a cca ? means have only 1 cca can already or? why is cca compulsory? to show that we have holistic edu ?
u need a very good GPA for a poly grad to go to local uni, like top 5%.

outdated le la. nowadays around 10-15%. there are plans to increase the % further...
Doesn't matter really, private is still private. You're still gonna get your wages downplayed because you hold a private degree. You might as well just work longer and go overseas for your degree.
Last resort is SIM imho, other than that, I don't really see a point to go other private Uni. Else, if your portfolio is impressive, you can try to get into NUS/NTU through discretionary admission.

They actually reserve about 15% to 20% of their slots to Poly students. And DWM is a confirmed entry.
