Not too sure how much I can help. I'm sitting for the MBBS in a year's time. But are you really sure research is your cup of tea? I mean all that studying of how to be a clinical doctor and you want to go into research?
Anyway, as far as I know, if you have any local commitments. You might want to give the PhD idea some serious thought. After completing 1 year of HOship and 2 years of NS (as a Medical Officer), you have to spend at least 3 years overseas (3 in UK, 4in US) to get your PhD. So if you have any significant others, they would probably have to travel with you =)
License to teach.

Firstly, I'm not local.
I've graduated from medical school few years ago. ![]()
I've been practising for a few years. Since you're a medical student, what does your school teach you with regards to mbbs-phd or md-phd?
I'm interested in research

Congrats =) School doesnt explicitly promote its mbbs-phd programme. To my knowledge prospective students who have excellent grades and done extensive research during their medical school days are approached by the department directly if they would like to enroll in the program.
Would suggest your just email the NUS school of Medicine and enquire directly. Highly unlikely you're going to encounter any MBBS-Phd docs here, it really is the Path less travelled =) Chances of you getting in are pretty high =)
I salute you.
Rooney9, the majority of our local cohort doesnt specialise. At least 50% become general practitioners, 10% do something else other than medicine entirely =)

u mean got people go study medicine, after graduation go do other profession?
then study medicine for what if u dun want to be a doctor
I not from NUS medicine as I've said, I'm not local.
Yes, I've got friends who didn't do stuffs related to medicine upon graduation. For those who have wealthy parents, and I mean really wealthy parents, this is a norm.
There are all kinds of everything happening in this world, you'll just have to open your eyes and take a look.
I'll wanna gather more information before I direct my queries to a school directly. ![]()
