I have never understoof why some people say our cultures are similar when they are so different.
We are totally different and seperate sovereign countries (duh), and although we are neighbours, our way of thinking, ideals and way of life are extremely different.
Singapore -> english educated, english speaking, secular state with buddhism as its biggest religion. Doesn't sentence gays who commit homosexual acts to 6 years jail, does not have "bumiputra policies", clean, green, lots of high rise, efficient public transport, first world country with gdp per capita ~38k usd.
Malaysia -> malay educated, malay speaking, english is not even an official language, constituition specifies islam as the religion of malaysia and islam is its biggest religion; homosexual activities warrants 6 years in prison (anwar's sodomy case), women who drink alcohol will be charged in court and sentenced to community service/canining, has "bumiputra policies", public gathering is not illegal (i think), has a more liberal democratic political system with a shadow cabinet, public transport is inefficient, third/second world country gdp per capita ~7k usd, which is only 17% of singapore's wealth.
what are some more differences you have noticed?
oh yes the accents are very different as well. i can tell a malaysian straightaway from his voice. their english has a totally different accent though manglish and singlish share some similarities. generally they do not pronounce the end of the words and are less fluent in english. (since English is far less commonly used in msia as in sg)
mandarin wise, they have an accent as well, very strong cantonese accent.
ya la.
knn sg and malaysia where got similar!
sg and usa then similar lo.
in m'sia they like to bang from behind.. in sg we like the normal way....
You seem not to understand many things
I suggest you stop sticking your head up your ass and look at the world around you.

So can i get a statement or summary ? I know captain obvious btw.
I think this is serious stereotyping
I bet if my Malaysian cousins and friends spoke to you and English and Mandarin, you would think they are Singaporean.
And no they are not educated in Singapore if that is what you are thinking.
Also their English and Mandarin accents differ from state to state.
i would think that those msians who can speak good english, it would be difficult to tell them apart from sgporeans. For the mandarin speaking msians, their cantonese accent is indeed very strong. They like to end their statements with "woh" and they have a lot of cantonese words, partly also due to the free airing of cantonese drama serials in msia.
you are the kind of people that i will facepalm. haiz
no hope already.

I have plenty of Malaysian friends and I can tell within 1 minute of talking to them that they are from Malaysia.
They definitely do not have the Singaporean accent. Listen to all their politicians, their accent is obviously that of a Malaysian and very distinct from a Singaporean.
Yes get your cousins to speak to me, I bet my money that I can tell they are Malaysian straightaway.
Just one look you can tell them are Malaysian.
Take for example, chen han wei, kui jien, christopher lee etc, they all have that Malaysian accent even after being in Singapore for many years. It is most pronounced when they first came. Chen han wei can't even speak proper English after decades in Singapore.

1 of my Malaysian friend speaks with a strong British accent after working there for many years
A few I know can barely speak or understand Mandarin at all and definately does not have the Malaysian accent
And the list goes on.
I think it depends on which state they come from. Those bred in KL and who go to private schools tend to not have the Malaysian accent. At least those I know don't have it.
Anyway, for the rest of the Malaysians, what is wrong with the Malaysian accent??? It's not like it's inferior to the Singapore accent or anything. It just sounds different like all accents around the world
listen to zoe tay and fann wong speak english....oh my god. pseudo english.

"Those bred in KL and who go to private schools tend to not have the Malaysian accent"
How many percent of Malaysians is that? 0.01%?
You are talking about the exception rather than the norm. I haven't heard a Malaysian with a British accent except those who were educated in Britain, like the current Malaysian PM (very slight British accent).
Mahathir does not have a British accent. Very Malaysian accent, very different from Singapore's.
In fact, 90% of Malaysian Chinese I've met can't speak fluent English. Nothing wrong with their accent of course, I am merely pointing out that it is different from the Singaporean one.

Both of them are Chinese speaking Singaporeans. It is not pseudo English, it is just broken English because they are not proficient in it. Like Jack Neo and many Chinese actors as well.

Okay, so up to now all that you have said. Malaysian not equals singaporean. I think we all know that. So anything more than bringing up captain obvious ?

"So anything more than bringing up captain obvious ?" "Malaysian not equals singaporean"
What does that mean? Are you Malaysian?
I have a spare dictionary somewhere if you want.

I guess it's better to moderate threads started by him rigorously. His threads, biased towards certain stuffs, and when allowed to be continued will be dentrimental to a certain aspect of society
Is Ranson guy locked up in Singapore or what?
He seems to be living in a world of himself.
