Do your parents converse with other ethnic groups in english?
Short conversation like asking etc, in English. But it will be avoided as far as possible on the fear that the other party does not know what the fish am i talking about.

I meant your parents.
yes of course
Most profound qn of the day ...
No, my parents speak Chinese, Malay, Tamil, Singhala and Victorian English, such that they are capable of speaking with the other ethnic groups in their own language.
I wonder why classes in Singapore are taught in english? Oh wait, thats because its the common language that unites the people! But of course if you would rather learn the other languages besides english nobody is stopping you. Very helpful if you do business in Malaysia or India or China.
Noob lah you.....
He asked because there are some older people who cannot speak English fluently.
Okay. So if they cant speak english fluently, you're still going to have to speak to them in english right??
Unless you can speak all the other languages in singapore =)
Oh I KNOW. We can just be quiet, close our eyes and pretend they dont exist =)
