Dear Arch 123,
You should apply online for on-campus accommodation as soon as possible as it is on a first-come-first-serve basis, and generally cheaper than off campus acommodation.
Are you heading to the Launceston Campus? Its a great campus and a really wonderful city.
You can book a flight to Melbourne by Singapore Airlines, Emirates or Qantas. From Melbourne you can fly to Launceston in 50 minutes by Virgein Blue or JetStar. You need at least 3 hours between your international departure and domestic departure as Customs and Immigration and flight delays make affect you. Check-in close exactly 30 minutes to the second....and it is to the second.
Its mid-winter now - so its about the same as Melbourne, Perth or Adelaide with regards to the temperature. Just bring whatever warm clothing you have and buy the rest in discounted outdoor shops when you arrive.
If you would like to stay in the city, there is a house available in the Launceston city centre with Jane & Richard Vandam ([email protected]) or call them at +61 418133308.
