Actually the correct way is to just bring the couple back to where you started off crossing the road (since they're crossing the road in the opposite direction right?), and then tell them the direction they need and then cross again at the next green light.
Sometimes we've to go the extra mile and don't be too calculative on their mistakes. That's what a gracious society is all about, tolerating each other's silly mistakes and always think what can i do to help others? instead of thinking, what others can do to make my task easier? Think what can i do to make ppl's life better instead of thinking what ppl can do to make my life better.
Or if you're really in a hurry then just simply flash a smile and tell them you really have no idea, definitely beats just walking away like that.
I'm sure they'll appreciate your time if you help them earnestly.

- WHEN ANG MO LINES UP IN FRONT OF U AT A MIX RICE STALL, BARK OUT YOUR ORDER 1ST BEFORE HE HAS CHANCE TO ORDER.
- IF ANG MO SCOLDS U, SAY "GET LOST" OR "GO TO HEL".
- AT THE BUS ENTRANCE, PUSH ANG MOS TO ONE SIDE WHEN ENTERING. But if u see a malay or indian or any non-white, patiently let them go up first.
