  I tried taking up japanese but give up soon after however foreign language is good for personal enrichment....any franophile here?

  Funny, people living in the Malay archipelage not interested in learnig Malay. 

  I see people living near Hispanic community speaking Spanish, like the American in Southern California and near the Mexican border in Texas.

  Here people in the early colonial days learn to speak Malay by interacting in the community. Illeterate labourers and housewifes, Chinese and Indians could speak Malay.

  Now except among the Malays, it seems Malay is getting extinct in Singapore.

  Dispite the multiracial hype, Singapore is chauvinistic.
