For those of you who collects swords and daggers, what type of oils do you use?
Those type of oil bought from provision shop like singer oil, koya oil etc is it good to use on swords?
Cos its much cheaper than the $8 sword oil bought from caesars.
1 bottle of singer oil cost $1.50 and 1 bottle of koya oil cost $2.
Use Singer Oil, good enough. It's a light mineral oil, suitable for swords. If you like something more traditional, make your own choji-oil. Mix 99 parts Singer Oil with 1 part Clove oil extract to get choji-oil. It'll have a nice choji fragrance. Cheers!
Don't know how to make my own choji oil.
I heard can use wax for swords too?
But not sure how much wax will cost..should be more expensive than singer oil..
Singer oil also got 2 type..all purpose singer oil and 3 in 1 singer oil..don't know whats the difference..

Yea you can wax swords, for long term storage. However, because I'm a more traditional person, I refrain from waxing my katanas. Umm...basically I oil it once in 1 to 2 weeks. And wax also quite irritating to get rid off after you leave it there on the blade for a long time. Which probably explains why I see less katanas in caesars being waxed, most seem to have been oiled. At least, thats what I noticed for the pieces on display.
Ah, I'm using the all purpose singer oil. Not too sure about the 3in1 version. Never seen it thus fur.
