-Use dollar for one single bill. Here is one dollar. Here is a five-dollar bill.
-Use dollars for more than one item. Give me five dollars.

i say dolla.
dollar = note in general, but notes come in diff dollar amounts (ignore the 1 dollar coin)
one, one thousand, two, two thousand = quantity or amount
singular quantity use dollar/note
more than one, use dollars/notes
so it is 1 thousand dollars, or a 1 thousand dollars note. 1 thousand note is singlish and will confuse non SG ppl.
