yeah.. i'm surprised... (never updates.. lol)...but i'm abit worrying if the lost ic is being abused by getting illegal loans, getting modile phone contracts... things like that....

Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents who have lost their Identity Card (IC) are required to report the loss and apply for a replacement in person within 14 days. A police report is required only if you are a victim of crime. Otherwise, you may execute a Statutory Declaration when you come to ICA to report the loss.

1st time lost: $100
2nd time lost: $300
3rd time lost: $300
4th time lost onwards: $300 + Jail Sentence -
me still at zero lost...
. just ask in case... (in case i lost it in HK)

depends on whether the police officer keen to make a report not. if he bo chap and not keen to listen to your story, then you have to hop to another police post or NPC lor...
just like for my traffic accident with 3 days' MC... 1st one lazy listen. 2nd one ask me how many days MC. i replied 3. he say have to make report already.
but then, even after making report, one month on, still nothing. -
I lost IC with the $100 fine.. That was in 2003.... Went to the police... they say not their business... contact ICA....
Then ICA explained say.... it used to be $50 but must report to police within 7 days... but somebody complained they found their IC after the 7th day... and requested for a refund..
So nowadays just report to ICA.... they give you 30 days.... to find your IC.... if you cant find it... then $100... 2nd time $300.... 3rd time $300... 4th time: $300 + Jail...
That was in 2003.. not sure how it works now...
But best TS call ICA and check... in case they change again... -
lost it quite a few years back....cant remember how long ago...made police report...went to ICA....ICA staff told me to wait for 30 days to see if anyone returned the IC....I was lucky....someone returned...no need to replace...
I believe the system is still in place....as long as U no need ur IC for that 30+ days...

My condolences about your predicament.
Maybe you can approach ICA officers and ask for their advice.
I think, for some things, rules and practice can be different.
Try to explain about the difficulty in meeting the fine. Perhaps you can report it first and then execute the fine and the IC replacement at a later time period.

Gave up their ICs to syndicate ID making companies where they will change the photo of the IC for their customers...
That is why after losing my IC for the first time, I have kept my IC at home.... as I have a driver's license anyway.... only when i find jobs... go to the bank will i bring my IC... =) -
