Singaporeans concerned about 'saving face'?

Sin Chew Daily reported that a US travel channel in its programme Culture Shock!described Singaporeans as individuals concerned about "saving face".
The daily quoted the programme host as saying that Singapore businessmen would not reject a business deal by saying no directly but instead would try to send the message through body language.
The host also mentioned that it was a Singaporean habit to be late by 10 to 15 minutes for a date because it was trendy.

Are you kidding? I go to a Singaporean wedding, dinner is at 7:30pm but at 6:00pm everybody is there already.

I don't agree with the article except for the business thing. Though its not about saving face, but I find a lot of Singaporean are not very comfortable with saying no. It might be due to social reason, or some difficulties at the back, but still, I feel that we should learn how to respect ourselves and learn to disagree.
It's good to speak out your mind especially during business meetings and not just through body language. Not everyone is able to take note of that.
Maybe its just that most are us are not very confrontational.
