how to bypass agent?

  i have been searching for a place to rent.  there is this place which i am agreeable to rent. however i dislike the housing agent a lot.  he is very pushy, keeps chasing me to close the deal, and a bit manipulative.  i really want to fire this agent. how do i rent the place without dealing with this agent ?

  Is he your agent or the landlord's agent? If he is your agent you can always fire him, but if he is hired by the landlord then I guess you can't do anything about it, since the landlord apparently likes him ;-)

  he is my agent. however whether he is the landlord's agent, i am not sure.  the last time i heard fm the landlord, he (landlord) is co-broking himself as agent.

  well in that case you can approach the landlord directly then .. if landlord is agreeable then you can engage someone else to handle the tenancy :-)

  Red card the agent.... !! .  Some landlords give exclusive rights to agents.... !

  i also think of approaching the landlord.  i really pissed at the agent and don't want to talk to him.  but i don't hv the landlord's tel nbr, so that means i go knock on his door directly... ?

  well if you do not have his contact details then that's the best you can do i suppose

  thanks for the replies.

  i have one question for the moderators - how come my title is changed without consulting me ?   this is unethical and i don't think you should judge for me what i should type in the title as i may have a reason why i choose to use one word over the other.  so please change back to its original title "how to bypass this person".
