Hi,
Does anyone know the estimated cost for studying a bachelor degree in australia?
Discipline? ![]()
food and nutrition.
State?
melbourne.
In general prepare 20-25k aud for 1 year study.
If your course takes 4 years ... then multiply by 4.

20 hours per week, but make sure you apply the right visa for it. Accomodations will take up the bulk of expenditure.

Mine was about 30k annually because each semester fees set me back 10k, 2 semesters 20k, my budget was tight so its like 5k for each semester's expenses. Back then, the Oz dollar was on par with the singapore dollar, unlike now, I reckon its more worth spending the money to study in the USA instead since the Oz dollar is on a climb.
Most of my expenditure went to accomodation, I think it was like 600+ a month, because living in the CBD ain't cheap. Daily meals was try to make own breakfast and dinner, lunch no choice have to eat out. If you have night classes, that'll be a headache.
If you decide to take up the visa that allows you to work, its 20hours max per week. One of my housemates took a server job at a nearby foodcourt, taking 15 bucks per hour, most of the time she brought leftover food home.
I reckon brisbane is one of the places with a lower cost of living, slightly higher than western australia. Sydney, melbourne, and southern australia should be more expensive. Tasmania is for the rich.

Haha you must be close to my age.
But I agree now is a better time to study in states. USD is at a low and AUD is now at a high.
anyone here applied for scholarship or took up a bank loan for your overseas studies. I feel i cant afford 30k per year at the moment.

You hush hush can work more than 20 hours. I got one student fren work 30 hours part time.
i have never studied in australia.but if u do need a degree to get a job ,,,,,i havent come across that scope of job in singapore.very rare if u want to get a degree in nutrition .if u cant afford that degree in australia then u might as well get a medical degree in that case in australia.as for immigration to oz after getting a degree, their policies have tightened so much until most of the students in universities (china and india) after spending tons of $$$$ over in universities, they found that they cant even apply for an immigration visa for a PR in oz .they ended up protesting and threatening to jump off a building in oz.
u cant hush hush work overtime....u might get deported or something. but if u need to work and study ,,,,i suggest u dont go for a degree....go and work in SIA first n then go study.I read from last months australian news that they had an ex SIA airline air stewardess who work for more than 7 years and then went to study biology engineering or something.even then she had difficulty in finances and had to give tuition.so even if u have a high paying job as an airline stewardess in the past...it might still be insufficient for studies.the girl later on did her masters and now werks for an australian government research organisation in biotech engineering...on contract basis only...she says her future is still fuzzy to her>> CSIRO.
if u need to work in spore after yer degree...suggest u take local universities or those overszeas degree courses offered in spore.make sure school is stable and not run off with yer $$$$ after studying halfway there!
if most spore MNC accept people from china, india etc with unknown n recognised degrees then those degree from overseas correspndence in spore unversities should be ok.its good on a resume only.
if u needa holiday, then gho for holiday!but dun bancrupt yerself over a degree.if u do...get a loan n pay back in 10 years or so....
forget about studying in australia.u can now study from RMIT in singapore long distance.....its been around since year 2000.
that way u can werk in spore n get yer degree at same time.
immigration to oz,usa and most countries have tightened up.only last week students were threatening to jump because their oz PR application was denied after them spending thousands of $$$$ on university degrees.
even afterv getting degree...low chance3 of getting job in spore.too many foreigners with degrees in spore basic or hardly pass degree holders.
who is to be blamed?PAP!
thank the PAP for your current problem.
to be practical lets calculate, the PAP gov allowed in so far(non -degree holders are not taken into account and are more as compared to foreigers with degrees :
degree malaysians who are werking in singapore number around 10,000 at least. One of them works as a nutritionist in a large japanese vivo margarine company in woodlands.his degree is from malaysia...way back in 1998.
degree vietnamese who are in spore werking around 1,000 at least.one of them works as a infotech computer engineer with singtel and was jailed for molesting his company doctor.
degree burmese who are werking in spore around 8,000 at least.they started appearing back in 1995 as p-roduction engineers ,assistant engineers etc.
degree china chinese who are werking in spore around 15,000 at least.these are the ones without any recognised degrees and some cant spell .they werk as supervisors, engineers, assistant engineers, planners, production and every job that can be imagined.
degree indians from india werking around in spore around 10,000 at least.they tend to be in same status as china chinese.
and the amount goes on........................................u need to fight with more than 50,000 degree holders to secure a realistic position.
does yer degree really count??its too complicated for me to actually think bout it......i think having own company is the best bet...less complications.
