Ipod touch performance

Currently owning: IPOD TOUCH 2G 3.1.3 MC MODELI am having 3.1.3 without having SHSH blob hence i cannot downgrade. iOS version 4.2 will be releasing in NOV. Now i need to decide whether i should upgrade to iOS 4.1 before the new version release (which may be unjailbreakable for sometime).
Apart from having multitask and folders and tons of little new stuffs in the new version 4.1,
I need to know 2 things:
battery life between 3.1.3 vs 4.1
Speed performance between 3.1.3 vs 4.1
Can anyone gives me some suggestion or feedback, thanks alot... -
What the hell do you want to tweak out from an mp3 player with a souped up screen?

i just use my ipod touch as an mp3 player.
didn't know i'd have to think about things like these when upgrading the software inside

I actually dont really know the exact technical specifications and software specs between 3.1.3 v 4.1.
Your only concern is perhaps jailbreaking.
I owned the touch 3g and 4g, and I must say that the 4g lags slightly when scrolling as compared to the 3g.
For your 2g ipod touch, you cannot fully take advantage of ios4.0 above due to your inferior cpu compared to 3g and 4g.
I would think that it would only be logical that the performace in the 2g will decrease as the software upgrades. Cause they upgrade to take advantage of the latest technical specifications they currently have, and that is the itouch/phone 4g.
Apps with the + sign will take advantage of the CPU in 3g and 4g touches.
Besides that I dont really know. Can only give feedback on user experience thats all.
