Many people are unaware.
In Singapore, there is already a program called,
Advanced Medical Directive.
( AMD )
If you go to hospitals, sometimes you can see the brochures about it. You can pick up one and read it.
Basically,
It means if someone is sick to the point of incurable, and there is no medical procedures which can realistically cure his ilness, and the person is at a very suffering / almost dying state, then the person can instruct the medical personnel to stop any unnecessary procedures and just focus on pain reduction and feeding.
This is my layman language and understanding.
It is something like that.
And as the name implies , Advanced Medical Directive, means that this instruction can be given at an advanced / prior phase.
So you can sign it while you are still healthy.
So,
I believe this is a good solution.
This is not exactly Euthanasia, but it has sufficiently and adequately adress the spirit of it.
This is much better than Euthanasia, in my humble opinion.
Because the difference is,
In Euthanasia,
There is an active action to squelch human life.
This brings moral hazard.
Meanwhile AMD does not do anything to actively to squelch human life, but just to withdraw certain procedures, and then passively let the human pass away to the afterlife.
So in the ideological and philosophical spectrum, I believe AMD is a bit more centrist and prudent, while Euthanasia is more left-wing.
AMD should be enough.
How about involving the terminal-ill person immediate family in the decision making process?

This might be too dangerous. Well, imagine you are a sibeh rich grandfather. U got such kind of illness. Will the family member want your will so much that better let u die asap (Esp. u want to alive, scare of death) consider on the medical fees would cover the will or so??
since i didn't choose to be born..................at least i should be able to choose when where and how i die mah..........
i fully support euthanasia..............better than people jump from building..............kana whack by MRT........
who will suffer ???.............the cleaners will suffer............some more make MRT commuters late for work.........

Euthanasia is used, when poor people got no money to sustain life....

There are too many controversies regarding the use of euthanesia as not only the one wanting to die is involved, the family members and friends will be affected in the negative manner.Life would seem cheap and so disposable with the legalisation of euthanesia.That will also encourage more suicide cases when actually the problems can be rectified with compassionate attention and counselling. I only agree with euthanesia if the person is at the last stage of some deadly diseases and needing great doses of morphine to be kept out of pain.That means , in a case where no medical solution can heal anymore.

even the most potent drugs cant alleviate certain pain caused by cancer.
