Hi guys ,
I just received my letter from NAFA.
Apparantly I was accepted into their course (Diploma in music performance , piano.),
which even though is a good thing , I'm having the problem of choosing whether to enroll in NAFA or to enroll in poly instead.. (computer engineering , SP)
There's many cons and pros , but it's just so hard to decide.. Like if I get a diploma in music performance , my job choices is very limited , whereas for computer engineering , it's wider I think? Not too sure about that.
Your opinion?
Both are just DIPLOMAS which will only get you lousy dead end jobs. So just go for whatever interests you more.
Yeap , but.. I would like to know the prospects of computer engineering.. Not very sure with that.
I know I'm stuck with teaching if I choose music lol.
Stick with your passion. :) You'll do better in that way...
Better go for something U have interest.
I have friends who got severe depression in poly for getting into courses they don't like.
But my friend is score too lousy so no choice.
NAFA
Of cos study must study interested one.
I gt a friend cannot go aeronautical engineering cry for a few days.
computer engineers, you work under blangalahs.
IT belongs to them, even PRCs don't have their sheer amount of people doing IT.

If you are into SAP applications or DBA, you can draw quite an amount of salary but all these will mean you will have to have glue stuck to your chair, they work 12 hrs norm.
As usual, all these require experience so it would be hard to break into this field as they are plenty of foreigners also versed in this and this is the same for every other field.
Have to have chance these days , or else end up doing dead end job.
You will have to be good, very good and that's just the prerequiste.
NAFA is good to train your creativity which can be applied everywhere

I think if you chose music, it would be good to learn more aspect, such as music production, some sound engineering, any jazz knowledge, maybe spend a period of time doing some live show?
Can maybe do some comercial music or whatever assignment to shore up more of your resume, before settling down to teaching music, you will have more knowlegde to impart. Sets you a bit more apart from the typical music teacher.
Good luck in whatever you chose.![]()

Does this mean that there will be tough competition with the FTs and other local people as well?
Well , Music Performance isn't really about writing new stuff I suppose.. More about being able to perfect piano playing.
Yes, I am afraid so.

But then , I guess working as a music teacher (In private schools) , should be less stressful than a computer engineer? Or could it be the opposite way round?
If you have the ability, you can excel in anything you do in life. If you have talents in music, then go for it! Post in on youtube, and if you work get spotted by an industry person in media/arts/advertising, you'll become famous!
Computer Engineer.... that will be more stressful becuase technology are advancing everyday, and you will need to keep up with that. Not forgetting that China's and India's graduates are more experienced in computer engineering than our local graduates.
One of our ministers say this.. "You need to keep up with changes or you lose out... " and this is something that is embedded deep inside me...
NAFA

@gunner77, why? Also , how’s the demand nowadays for computer engineers , compared to piano teachers?
dont waste your time on computer engineering.
dont even waste your time in engineering.
its one of the most fucked up industry.
go NAFA, enjoy urself there.
dont tell yourself, computer engineering can give me a job next time. Most likely you will hate it. makes you sad and depress everyday.
so enjoy urself at NAFA, find a job which relates to your passion. At least you are happy. thats the most important thing.
Many people can fix computers or do computer related stuff.
Even 12 year old kids.
But how many people can actually play the piano? ![]()
