I was being forced by my company in 2009 to open a citibank account for salary crediting purposes.
All the employees at that time had to open a citibank account for the company to credit salary into their account as the company have dealings with citibank and the CEO got psycho by citibank to get all their employees to open a bank account with them.
1 month after my bank account with citibank has been opened, I resigned from the company and since than I have not used this citibank account anymore.
Around 2 weeks ago, I receive a mail with a new citibank card saying that they have changed the card to have EMV chip or something like that.
Until today I have not received the new pin number.
I called up citibank as I was not sure if I could use my old pin number or they will mail me a new pin number.
Their services totally sucks.
1st the staff told me to key in 6 digit telephone pin and with that, she can direct me to the main paage to do a atm pin number change.
I key in a 6 digit telephone pin and a message came out saying that the number keyed in was not recognised.
I repeated the whole process a total of 4 times and all 4 times I key in different numbers but it didn't get through and than the call was cut up.
So I call them again and spoke to the staff again.
She told me I could have keyed in the 6 number pin too fast or too slow that is why the system could not capture.
I have also used posb, dbs and standard chartered before but have never of such nonsense thing such as key in pin number too fast or too slow than the system never capture.
So I tried to key in the 6 digit pin again and this time it succeed. Than they prompt me to re-enter my pin again and I key in the same 6 digit pin again but a message came out that I key in the wrong pin number.
The staff than told me that I keyed in a different pin the 2nd time. I told her I was very sure that I keyed in the 2nd time correctly.
(She think I am stupid to key in another different pin number the 2nd time when they prompt me to re-enter it again)
So I tried the 3rd time. This time it succeed and I was prompted to rekey my pin. I rekey in and my phone pin number succeed and I was bought to the main page where they ask me to key either my phone pin number or IC number for verification again.
I keyed in my ic number but they say no such user exist. I keyed in my phone pin number the 2nd time and it says that it is incorrect.
So I called citibank the 3rd time to look for the same staff. She say she will help me to key in my NRIC number into the system and it didn't work again.
So she ask me to re-create a new phone pin and to keep on trying to key in the same number if the system rejects it.
So i keyed in a new 6 digit phone pin and it got rejected again. I tried a total of 4 times before the system lock me out.
She than told me no choice I have to walk in to their citibank branch to change my atm pin.
After that, I tried to do internet banking using my citibank account and it worked.
I saw that there was a option to change atm pin. i clicked on it and managed to change my atm pin.
Citibank totally sucks.
Their staff don't even know to advise people to use internet banking to change their atm pin.
Anyone experience such lously services with citibank before?

Citibank is for those living in the City, if you live in woodland or ulu pandan, forget it
Aiyo poor you - maybe that bank officer new at work.
Anyway, Citibank I think better for corporate customers (like your company).
For consumers, DBS is better. Hey - Neighbours first Bankers second. Good enough for me. Haven't given me problems for years!
But I must say Citibank cards give good discounts. :-)
get uob or ocbc lah. their atm got lower user rate. so dunid to queue so long unlike the posb/dbs atms

They are still sending me emails to check my account balance every month without fail although i cancelled my card with them last May.
i prefer to talk to humans and hated pressing buttons and waiting for prompts....
when i dun get what i want.....my usual powder email will follow (make sure attn to the key person)...and that solves all problems

to close account, u can do by proxy and get them to issue u a cashiers' order by mail tour own name. u can bank it in with any bank.
