Dun need to pay back....tang ki is a spirit that is summoned. These spirits are present around the people who were conditioning themselves to summon them for some solace. Mesmerizing of tang ki is not helpful for long term problem and not all problem could be resolved by tang ki as they possessed limited capacity. Moverover, tang ki themselves also need noble one to solve their problem.
