I want to do some wood/metal/electronic work, but my room in my mother's hdb apartment is too small for all the clamps, drills and other stuff. Do you know of any workshop similar to the Design and Technology workshops in secondary school that I can rent out?
No, you either pay to get it done, or pay to get it done.
Clamp a handdrilll to replace a drilling machine, saves space and more convenient.

Yeah, but I cannot do it in my room, because of the dust, noise etc. Somemore the neighbour might call me for mediation.
heard u can goto NUS and they will rent u a space....dunno if its true.

Well, I can get you a workshop space for a day.
Can you afford the price?

rent a place a day kinda place......theres the library..free but i dun think they allow a werkshop there..
You can check with the artists / sculptors on where they do their stuff. Maybe you can pay them to rent the place that they rent.
hey alize...dats a great idea.
check with local community centre...see if they can give u a place to solder stuff together.
think need to book n pay or something not sure about the workshop as long as its not a firerisk or something.
i know at woodlands industrial, there a few of those multi level warehouse shaped like multi storey carparks, where u can get a space for $500-$800 a month. and at that industrial is where all the wood/metal/electronic works are located at. so nobody will find u noisy or dirty. there is 3 carpark slots for each warehouse u rent, and it is 2 levels. which is good cos u can do all the industrial on first floor and office on the 2nd level. there are canteens nearby. basically in my opinion i find all the amenities there kind of suitable for your works.
but if u are more of the artistic side, i think maybe u should find a space in town, like tanjong pagar or the industrial park near vivocity, i think they go at the rate of $100-$150 for 3 days with aircondition and the room is like the size of a 5 room hdb flat. it is not as dirty n dusty as woodlands, and its near exhibition areas in town and museums so it would be easy for u to transport your works to exhibite.
in my opinion, and i am not trying to offend other forumers, i do not think universities, community clubs, hdb, private housing areas are suitable as these are the places where children are walking around and people are living, so i guess people will not tolerate noises and dirt and it poses danger to their living too.

Maybe you are right, cause I saw before at SDE (School of Design n Environment), beside the lift at 1st floor left hand glass door inside is Design Workshop for their own students, TS can go try ask them or the OSA (Office of Student Admin)
older parts of singapore still have workshop under hdb void decks
