Is it very hard to get BTO flats these days? I am planning to get married in 3 years time and has been trying to get a BTO flat but to no avail.
From what I know, BTO flats can only be purchased by Singapore citizens (these include those Foreign Singapore Citizens or FSCs who are made up of ah tiong and others who has received Singapore citizenship) though.
This led me to wonder, whether this over-subscription of flats and difficulty in getting a BTO flat is due to these FSCs who are fighting with our own homegrown truebred Singaporeans who have served National Service to get these new flats.
Sadly, in the eyes of the law, there's no distinction between these FSCs and us Singaporeans.
Anyone has figures to show the proportion of FSCs and Singaporeans in getting a BTO flat?
tis yr is expected to see 22,000 HDB units introduced
I think it's like 250% more compared to 2007/ 2008 levels??? ![]()
Tat said, only tis year ![]()
You can apply under the fiance-fiancee scheme first. You don't need to prove your marriage to get the house keys. I applied 6 times before I got picked. So, all I can say is don't give up.
I don't think it is the FSC, as you put it is a cause. Most FSC, Ah tiong or Ah neh that got their citizenship have already made it good, and are living in condos. The one that applies for HDB flats are miniscules, and also have complications on eligibility issues.
Your rants arise from frustration, and are baseless.
You have to know where you stand when you fill out your application form. Don't think that SC automatically get a flat served on a golden platter. First time applicant? Owner or part owner of HDB or private property, Income against the size of flat applied for. Family nueclus, married? with whom? Size of development against number of applicants. Each aspect of the application requirements that you don't meet satisfactorily, lowers you rankingi the queue.
If you fit the eligibility factor to the T, you will have no problem, other than choosing the mosterous besterous idealesterous flat.
its hard. i tried like 6 times. only got number once and its a huge number

Please, kindly distingush between rants and just trying to state a case and asking for some opinions.
What stating his case?
TS unsuccessful application could be due to a number of reasons, but he is attributing to foreigners, a popular target at this current climate.
For all intent and purpose he could have fail in his appliction just because he did not pass cross checking by the HDB of the information he provided in his application.
He should ask for figures of the thousands of Singaporean couples who applied and got their flats, and not insinuate that Singaporeans are victimised by the HDB.
He is not asking for opinion, he is spreading his opinion.
