I can't tell what your family background is like. So I can't tell you if its normal or not.
my house 3 people about $50 per week
ie. for wet market items only ie. meat, fish and vegies
not including supermarket groceries like rice, detergent, toilet paper....
yeah how many people in your family? what kind of food does she buy? where does she buy from? because meidi-ya, market place, cold storage and giant, all quite a big difference.
there're 6 people (2 old folks, 3 adults, 1 young adult) in my family, home cooked food 5 days in a week, all the raw/fresh food's bought from the local wet market + some extras here and there (can goods, bread, butter, jam, etc, etc, dried foods) is a mix from either ntuc or cold storage. 1 month abt $500+?
There are 4-5 people in my house.
We visit FairPrice for almost all our stuff, food and non-food.
On average about $150 per week.
around $20 or slightly less a week
on pasta, fruit juices, tidbits, canned soup, cup noodles, occasionally ice-cream
myself only

if you seriously compare prices you'll notice people generally overpay for a lot of stuff.
perhaps gals spend very little or none at all...
cos the bill is on ...

$70 is cheap alr.

wah. u say until like playing farmville liddat.
on consumable stuffs, roughly 20 per week on poultry.
Mom rarely cooks.
$70/week is not a huge amount. It is in fact very little.. It translate to about $10/day to feed a whole family? I can't imagine how I can survive with that. We're living in an age where good quality food actually cost more than the unhealthy varieties you find outside. If you've watched the documentary 'Food Inc' you'd know what I'm talking about..
I spend about that same amount on groceries every week.. could be more and that's just me alone. Here's how I eat: lots of chicken breast, They're very rich in protein.. I have them almost every meal, Lentils (about half a cup dry each time), which are good source of slow carbohydrate, and brocolli and snow peas. I love berries too, they're superfood.. You find all that anti-oxidants that you need.
I'm not rich by the way, I'm actually poorer than many of you =P What I'm trying to say here is that you should really spend more on food.. They're very important. We are what we eat
@angel7030.. Yea we should all do that. If we all do that together, Its actually quite a viable source of good quality food. But then again, not many of us live in private house like you do. =P You can't plant strawberry in a tropical country.. meh...
