Serious question.
I want to do an impromptu survey.
What percentage of time do you use "LOL" when chatting but actually you're not laughing; maybe you just run out of stuff to say, etc.
lol.
Lol is something means to laugh inside your mind, if I keep laughing loud here, people think i mad. And for those working in office, if they keep laughing loud, good luck to them. They may end up crying all the way out of the company. So lol is not mend to be physical laughing, it is internal lauging which only few can master it, and one of them is me and maybe the madam above
I generally don't use it unless I find something amusing. I personally know some people who 'lol' simply because they run out of things to say for the moment. They add the 'lol' while they're thinking about the next line.. (but that's just my observation) I guess that's just one way to avoid uncomfortable silence without having to pretend that you're afk or something .. =P I'm not that afraid of uncomfortable silence, be it on the internet or face to face.

I personally find LOL and the different versions of LOL is used to generate a more humourous atmosphere in an online conversation. However, some ppl don't like the overusage of LOL. My comment is subjective.
