ok im not sure because i've seen lots of schools dont have this type of courses. My interest in space isn't available here in singapore. Is there actually an astronomer related course in singapore? if so, do u think it will be successful?
the closest is aerospace and aeronautical related courses
No, you will not be successful.
you can probably make more money studying astrology instead .... ![]()
astrophysics which is a branch of physics is more in line with astronomy ....more on theoretical frameworks of the universe than the engineering nature of aerospace or aeronautical courses....
first....u must be damn good in physics...relativity, quantum physics/ mechanics.....

i read up astrophysics and it is quite close to being an astronomer. i dont mean to brag but i am quite good with physics but mechanics, i dont think so. im not really good at handling machines but i can try. thanks man
ditzy, why? are u really serious that being an astronomer wont be successful?
its not mechanics.....but quantum mechanics which is totally different from engineering mechanics...
quantum mechanics deals with wave-particle behaviour of matter in our universe...which leads to quantum field theory, string theory (which is currently the most popular opinion of how our universe behaves), quantum gravity theories....
if your're seriously good at your stuffs as you have said, go for it.
astronomy isn't only about quantum physics or relativity. there are different areas of astrophysics: intergalactic, planetary, space physics etc. these requires different physics knowledge and they are normally graduate-level course work.
yup, there isn't any specific course in sg and the closest is the physics with astrophysics concentration in nus. But as rex-t said, if you are good at it and have the passion, go for it
erm i think there's no such course in sg. because mainly sg doesnt really focus on that kinda thing but like the guys above me said... there's a related courses. so far, if u rly good at it, who knows.. u may be sent to NASA in us or russia xD.
Go USA to study lor....a high cost but also a high pay if you work for NASA....
got - intercourse
Go for those NASA sponsored degree courses....ask the Univ Dean....
i used to b like u, wanna b an astronomer but i think in sg its v hard... unless u go oversea n work at nasa, jaxa or esa...
SG dun have such courses....if you go USA will be very expensive, I think UK or Australia both are cheaper....go check them out....
NUS Physics with Astrophysics specialization
But be warned, the Cosmology (requirement module) lecturer is a killer =(

TS wants to be an astronomer and not an astrologer....its different right? Also there's a difference between astronaut and astronomer right?
Astronomer: studies celestial bodies such as planets, stars and galaxies
Astrologer: writes up cockernarden stories about how the movement of the stars will affect your kidneys, etc.
Astronaut: one who travels into space

Okay I get it...that means there are such degree courses in SG? I dunno leh....
