Can't even upgrade skills to compete with FTs...

  I always endorsed the government's view and vision that Singaporeans need to constantly themselves to stay competitive in this global business environment.

  With globalization, we are not only competing against fellow Singaporeans but other foreigners as well.

   With that in mind, I have decided to enroll for a FICS course in SMU which is suitable for people in operations or control functions.

  It'll provide funding to private candidate who are Singaporeans or Singapore PR.

   Since I have been in a control functions role for 2 years, I thought such a course would help upgrade my current knowledge.

  In order to do the course, I need to forgo precious time with my 2 young kids for 8 Saturdays.

  But I think it might still be worthwhile, as I can emerge more knowledge and be able to compete against Foreign Talents employed in the financial industry.

   However, to my disappointment, I wasn't even accepted by SMU for the course and I didn't even manage to get a proper answer why they have rejected me.

   If someone like me, a Singaporean with right tertiary background and experience and keenness to upgrade is not given a chance to, I wonder who would SMU select for the course?

  If the whole environment does not support Singaporeans who wish to upgrade and make themselves competitive, it is no wonder Singapore always need foreign talents.

  The ironic thing about these courses are that, they are run by FTs!!!

  TS, if possible find out the reason for rejection.

   

  Not meant to be a wet blanket to your interest in taking course for upgrade - received feedback from some who went for course for upgrade that they still cannot find jobs, most jobs are given to foreigners.

  Unless PAP is not given much power or the existing job problems and others will remain unchanged.

  knn a fuc_ing cert need 3 months to print out when i completed the course,

  a course that need me to bond 2 years by the company for a $400.00 ( after deduction) because of some stupid law set by them.

  there a post by some1 that say Goverment offer many ALL FULLY PAID COURSE AND residentship to many china A student. package with housing / study / pocket $$$ to make them come to study and last residentship in Singapore.

  while we singaporean every little bit need to PAY AND PAY AND PAY AND PAY AND PAY AND PAY AND PAY AND PAY........................................~!!!!!!!!!
