A writer once described Singapore as “Disneyland with the death penalty”.
However, for many Singaporeans – like myself – who have to put up with the draconian rules for decades now, we are not feeling the Disney at all. Just the penalties. Therefore, we get very annoyed with the mainstream media – especially the government-owned dailies circulating in Singapore – for their unhealthy fixation on the “Disney” side of Singapore.
Well, we know what the doctors say about pain. And we ignore the societal pains plaguing Singapore at our own peril.
That's why we – being the conscientious writers that we are - came together to write Singapore Sucks!
And not because we are sarcastic hacks with entirely too much time on our hands.
Singapore Sucks! is a delightful bouquet of sarcasm, humour and insolent honesty. The discerning reader may even recognise a hint of patriotic fervour.
Through an eclectic collection of short stories, essays and poems, our panel of largely Singaporean writers have captured and managed to convey the peculiar brand of insanity that can only be described as Uniquely Singapore. This book leads you through to the other side of the looking glass; behind all the hocus-pocus you will find hitherto unexplored territory… Here, virgin explorers shall marvel at sights that will satisfy even the most carnal appetites for the strange and macabre.
Welcome to Singapore.
The launch date for the book will be announced on our fan page.

sg is a funferal ....using Joycean pun...if u take away the middle f...and u know what it means....
it can be fun...but strangled as well by the costs ...
aside, the medias here are extremely feministic and lopsided in their overemphasis of their rights....men's contributions are underplayed...
Its easy to mow the grass after someone has shown you where to do it, given you the lawn-mower and taught you how to use it. Mowing the grass is still good and needed and we can find ways to improve our technique.... but don't forget what led to it in the first place.
Hope it goes well.

aiya...it is always easy to spot the mistakes of the guys who cover their face and cut grass on slopes with grass cutter under the hot sun. They should put to test if readers really find if it is indeed "delightful bouquet of sarcasm, humour and insolent honesty" by putting the book in print to see how many people buy, or they still prefer Lats. Also we will know how many are virgin explorers are there.
I might buy one if it is not too expensive, just to show my foreign friends that there is freedom of speech in singapore.

Freedom of speech and constructive challenge is good, but I think it should be done in a way that doesn't blatently disregard your roots.
Haven't read anything more of the group/book, but I'm just hoping that its simply a sales/attention drive rather than a genuine belief that direct opposition against current standings is a good way to go.
For what it is however, it does sound interesting - to see how the writers share their line of thought and if nothing else, make readers think about an 'alternative'. Again, I hope they do well.
