i mean to ask if u think it is a good idea. Afterall, polytechnics are tertiary institutions, which even have religious ccas.
Polytechnics are government institutions, are they not?

yes, but there is nothing wrong with public schools having such CCAs, right?
Maybe is no student has yet set up and form a club right? May not be because it isn't allowed what. A lot of these kind of clubs are formed by initiating students

yeah, but do u think it is a neat idea?
Feel free to join... but you never know what party your lecturer supports. Many FT lecturers nowadays.

Maybe from your point of view. I am talking from the point of view of the government. It is their educational institution. Do you think they will pass the setting up of a club or society that challenges their position?

Can la. Those universities also have political clubs.
everyone has a right to their own political views...
the problem is how to balance them

I doubt the government has much say in universities. Polytechnics have their syllabus closely monitored by MOE. Universities pretty much do whatever they want. At least that is the case with the CCA branch in my uni, versus that in the poly. We pretty much run everything the way we want, while poly students have to answer to the school for almost everything.
with the likes of Alex Tan, Lim Zi Rui joining standing for opposition in recent GE. I doubt PAP tertiary institution will give it a go, lest lesser votes for PAP in future elections.

Oh, I didn't know about that. Thanks for the explanation.
But it's not like the CCA would be an opposition supporters' congregation. PAP supporters, anyone who is interested could join. The cca is not just for discussion either, there could be forums, and things like what the NUS political association is doing.

No problem. Why do you want to set up political clubs in poly anyway? To solve the problem of political apathy in young Singaporeans?

No, I just wanted to answer Siliconchip's question why there could be no political clubs in the polytechnics. I thought clubs which have been initiated by students can be registered, so what was the reason for no political clubs?

Oh I see. Honestly, I have no idea whether it can genuninely be set up in polytechnics or not. I am only providing my observations, and I think it will be hard to get approval for setting up such clubs in polytechnics.
Simply put, I believe political clubs can have a presence in schools, but not form an official affiliation with polytechnics. Somehow this makes me think of politically-related student riots.
All in all, I think it is a cool idea. Good luck trying to get it set up though. =)

Ok, reasonable. See how Siliconchip thinks.

i think that this kind of management is only suitable for up to secondary sschool. In tertiary educational institutions, the staff and the student body should have a voice so that neither one becomes tyrants.

haha, but there will be at least one lecturers attached to the cca and he would be able to prevent this crap. besides, they are students afterall, they would not do such things that could potentiaally get themexpelled.
