hey people. i have ALOT of old $1 singapore notes from bird series to ship series . and i also have alot of old bruni riggit $1 ones too. most of the bird series and ship series notes are in consecutive numbers and are quite mint. do anyone have any idea where to sell all the notes at once? i dont mind selling the notes at an equal value. is there such thing as selling to the bank? thanks (: btw most of them are $1 notes so i dunt know what to do with them .help please(:
Equal value!???? how much you got??
umm i think bout 90 + birdie series and ship series? the bruni maybe only 30 + why can it fetch a higher price o.o? cause im not very sure since its all just $1 notes
go set up a small booth at flea markets all around singapore or even on ebay.com.sg
the notes command a 'collectors edition' premium.
hmm i was thinking of selling them to like collector shop in singapore do anyone know of any that are willing tgo buy so many $1 notes?
sell to shops is usually 'chop carrot head' one...
since they push the price down on your notes, so if you sell to them, then the shops will profit when they sell higher prices to collectors who patronise their shops...
unless those r uncirculated notes, if used notes anything above face value is gud

I have it. I have asked around, in the end I change my mind of selling some of them. Those dealers told me won't make much out of it.
umm is there such thing as collector shops then? cause i really have no use for the notes ><
since no use for yourself, then keep for your children...
if now no children yet, then wait for them in the future...
@rednano nahh i think i'll sell it :x it not possible to exchange at banks horh :c

if you sell back to banks, they also give u back the same value in the form of the present Yusof Ishak notes, then what's the use? waste time at bank queuing...
the old notes are all legal tender even today, meaning if you use them to buy things at any shops, the cashier will thank you in his heart. because at the end of the day to close the cashier account, he will go take your 'collector' notes and keep them in his home to be his collection now...
i know... because last time i work holiday works at various stores, some shoppers don't appreciate, then everytime the cashiers will ask their supervisor to exchange the old notes like yours with their current president dollar and they bring home to keep the old notes...
use for next yr cny lah.. ang pow lor..... even if u put 1 dollar only they will not complain one lah...
o.o even the bird series still can use :o but if you like sell to the bank you just pass them the money they count the give you back the exact value? :o

ya... 1-to-1 exchange at banks thus no use one since it's same value at banks...
meaning you are just exchanging the ship/ bird notes to president notes at the same value, at the same price, but waste your time only...
so in the end therefore, to simply put,
old notes are still legal tender for use even today...
meaning still can use...
you use at shops... the shops' cashiers happy...
because they will take go home keep the notes...
so the cashiers become the new owner/ collector of your notes...
the cashiers will either keep them for collection or sell at flea markets/ ebay.com.sg
ouhhh. haha okkies then thanks for your help :D just checking must there be a legal age to change ? >.<

Go to anywhere and start buying things. They will accept it. Since you are saying $1 for $1. Just pay with it!

to the banks, it's the same meaning as exchanging a $1 coin minted in 1997 to a $1 coin minted in 2011.
and double confirm guarantee that the bank teller will be trying hard to keep her composure for not to laugh out loud rolling on floor at you for doing this 'it's simply doesn't make any common sense' exchange at the bank counter...
but it will be kinda funny if you use the one dollar note to pay for $50 item like very ma fan tats why i wanna change :x
then that one shop cashier will be the happiest of all cashiers that day for striking gold when a collector like you "donate" your 'collector's edition' notes to the shop...
he/ she will shake hand with you and he will later happy happy go home and protect your bird/ ship series notes and keep the notes for himself and his children and grandchildren to appreciate the collection...
LOL. haha. all banks will accept the exchange right >< sorry for my stubborness but dont worry i wont exchange everything (;
Do you still have the old notes? You mind to sell to me instead of exchanging with the bank of use it :p

Singapore post-independance currency are not worth much, FYI. Especially so for low face value notes below $1000. Unless they are/have... (but must be in EF-UNC condition)
- Z series (replacement notes)
- golden nos like 888888, 999999, 111111, 222222.....etc
- printing errors
- rare signature (like GKS's signature for orchid $5 and $100 notes)
On the other hand, Singapore pre-independance (before 1967) currencies are more valuable and would also worth quite a sum even if in medium grade like Fine, VF, XF.
