Hi everyone, I'm a student from Lasalle College. I need help and feedbacks for my assignment. I will be really glad if you can help me out. It's just 5 questions to answer. Thank you so much for the help.
Name: Age:
1. 1. Do you read Straits Times? If yes, why is that so? If no why is it that you don’t read?
1. 2. Do you experience any trouble in the form, layout or the paper itself? Do you prefer newspaper current size or smaller?
1. 3. Do you have any problem in reading the body text? The layout, kerning or the spacing? Should it be bigger in size or maybe replace another typeface to replace the font?
1. 4. Do you have any suggestion that can make Straits times a better newspaper in terms of visual and readability?
W 5. Why do you think that teens or young adults don’t really read newspaper, as they prefer more online reading? Is there a way where we can lead them to print other than relying on digital?
T Thank you!!! :D

1. Do you read Straits Times? If yes, why is that so? If no why is it that you don’t read?
No. I don't read Straits Times. The reason being that ST is a propaganda mouthpiece of the PAP government.
1. Do you read Straits Times? If yes, why is that so? If no why is it that you don’t read?
No. In my opinion, ST is not an independent newspaper publication. Their articles are often one sided.
1. 2. Do you experience any trouble in the form, layout or the paper itself? Do you prefer newspaper current size or smaller?
The paper itself is large, I prefer smaller size similar to Today. But still I won't read it though, refer to first answer.
1. 3. Do you have any problem in reading the body text? The layout, kerning or the spacing? Should it be bigger in size or maybe replace another typeface to replace the font?
Typography is fine to me.
1. 4. Do you have any suggestion that can make Straits times a better newspaper in terms of visual and readability?
No.

It's obvious reading digital versions are much more convinient and environmentally-friendly.

Yes, my teacher want us to read the newspaper to improve our english understanding
2. Do you experience any trouble in the form, layout or the paper itself? Do you prefer newspaper current size or smaller?
The paper quality of the newspaper is not strong enough, it can be torn easily
3. Do you
have any problem in reading the body text? The layout, kerning or
the spacing? Should it be bigger in size or maybe replace another
typeface to replace the font?
Yes, the words are too small, some of the words
they used i could not understand, and thus i have to check the
dictionary, it's very troublesome.
5. Why do you think that teens or young adults don’t really read newspaper, as they prefer more online reading? Is there a way where we can lead them to print other than relying on digital?
Printing out certain article will enable discount when buying food, eg 10% off mcdonalds.

That is like brainwashing naive students into buying into PAP false propaganda. I disapprove.
Use English as dominant language in Singapore is a wrong policy. It is not a correct policy.
Use English as dominant language in Singapore is an irrational policy. It is not a rational policy.
Singapore economy was not build up using english. Lee Kuan Yew's policies are all wrong in this regard.
The largest Chinese dialect group in the late nineteenth century were the Hokkien, who were traditionally involved in trade, shipping, banking, and industry.
The next largest group, the Teochiu, engaged in agricultural production and processing, including gambier, pepper, and rubber production, rice and lumber milling, pineapple canning, and fish processing.
Cantonese served as artisans and laborers and a few made their fortunes in tin. The two smallest groups, the Hakka and Hainanese, were mostly servants, sailors, or unskilled laborers.
Because wealth was the key to leadership and social standing within the Chinese community at that time, the Hokkien dominated organizations such as the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and supplied most of the Chinese members of the Legislative Council and the Chinese Advisory Board.

Voice out to your teacher that ST is PAP propaganda mouthpiece. Tell your teacher to use other more neutral material.
ST should be rejected as material for teaching english. My english teacher used to criticise ST for lousy grammar also.
Thank you for the feedback :)
