POSB ATM Unable to Dispense Cash Instead of Warning; Shows Advertisements

Attempted to withdraw cash from this ATM(1/3) at Compasspoint on 19 Mar 2011, after queuing for 15 mins (i didnt realise the person in front was trying to figure out why she couldnt withdraw any money from it), upon my turn, i realised that the ATM CANNOT dispense ANY CASH.

I calmed down and moved to the other ATM(2/3); this time i queued for 10 mins(again without realising another person in front of me was trying to figure out why he cannot withdraw any cash).

When its my turn, after going through the series of entering my PIN, Type of Account, Other Cash withdrawal, which then the dreaded message on the screen flashed across my eyes: "This ATM cannot dispense cash".
Im like Shocked! I totally wasted 25 mins of my time in the queues, to realize that 2 out of 3 ATM does not serve my need to withdraw cash. Finally i joined the 3rd and last ATM(3/3) queue with 3 people in front of me (another waiting time of 20 mins) before i am able to withdraw any cash.

The picture above shows the ATM(1/3) with the nice advertisement and whats not, but didnt provide any information showing if any services its suppose to provide is not working, and in this case, an important service which is to DISPENSE CASH.

P.S. The edge of the yellow box dictating the distance the person next in queue should be away from the person at the ATM is still too near. With my height 1.78cm and Weight 92kg i am still able to peer into the screen at how much he/she has left in the bank account and if i concentrate hard enough, i might be able to see whats her pin is.

wow. march article.

i have seen atms with msgs tt say unable to dispense cash. dunno why this one no have.

and at the deposick machine, will oso have the msg which says, update passbook only, cannot deposick

btw, not nice to kpo how much others have in the bank.
even if ppl not fat enough to cover the screen, the ppl around oso shd not try to look.

but got a few times i found some receipts scattered ard the machine.
not tt i want to look but some ppl relli damn pathetic lah
they press $50 and have $30.88 left in the acct nia.

too many ppl using dbs/posb
atm Q always bery long
so i perpersly open an acct in another popular-but-not-so-popular bank so tt i can press my money faster

These days ATMs can do more than just dispense cash. So I doubt ATMs were built to read your goddamn mind.

I ever encounter before, just go to another atm to withdraw. Life still goes on.

Provided ts very angry and decided to bash up that machine.

when you see receipts showing $30.88 in their bank account, do not assume that they are poor pathetic people. They could have many other bank accounts and are merely withdrawing all the cash in this posb account to close it

Yeah, people just love the banks deducting admin fees from their accounts because they don't meet the minimum sum every month.

They maybe planning to draw out like say $2000 the maximum amount a day and the bank account will be zero dollars within a month
