Guys,
I got a burning question which doing some search on google fails to yield any results.
As the title suggests,
Assuming a guy works in a public service example NEA or MOM. His a diploma holder drawing $2000 a month. When he gets a degree will his HR increase his salary to be the same level to a fresh grad who joined this month ? (Assume the fresh grad gets $3000)
Or will he earn more than the fresh grad based on 2 condition :
1st) He worked 3 years while studying degree and has 3 years of relevant working experience on the job
2nd) His yearly increment is $100 so 3 years later its $300.
So based on this fact the guy should earn $300 more than the fresh grad drawing $3300.
Or will he be on par with the fresh grad $3000 as how the HR bench mark it.
Anyone who can answer this question is a genius as the internet fails to answer this question as well as www.salary.sg
Dude this is very company specific. Perhaps some one fmo HR can help. Anyways if you go to another company then this would be possible.
Fyi. stat boards and civil service dun recognise distance learning acquired degree.
hmmm since when did fresh U grad start earning 3K... even for local U?
guess the norm is 2 - 2.5k for distance learning degrees and ard 2.5k for local U... (assuming biz related degrees)

You stupid farking idiot. Your salary is dictated by the value you bring to the company, not by what degree you have. Having a degree vs. bringing value to the company are two very, very different things. Can you save the company cost, *after* taking into account the annoying overhead that you bring to the company? Can you make them money? Don't be a fool.

How about in SIM get a certificate? Is it worth it as the time spent is short too lol
I do agreed that it will be better to check with your HR about the increment or check with your immediate manager. People over here might give you wrong information.
degree for what?
It also depends on your manager too.
Whether he likes you or not. You get what I mean.
Whether he is the one who loves to cut cost. YOu get what I mean.
Whether he is the one who feels inferior and who feels threaten. You get what I mean.
