I am 19 years old and I just recently got a new job and my new job needs my bank account number to transfer my salary to me.
My bank book is currently with my mum and she doesn't want to give me my bank account number. My mum has always been a controlling and difficult person.
So I decide to go create a new bank account instead.
How do I create a new bank account?
Can I just go to any banks and create a bank account?
I heard some people mentioning that if I want to create a new bank account, I need to deposit $1000 inside first.
But I don't have so much money. What should I do?
And also, I want a bank account that allows me to deposit checks.
Which type of bank account is suitable for me? >.<
Get your stupid bank book from your mum.
bring IC and $1000 to the bank
say wanna open a bank acct
all accts allow u to deposick cheques
just write the bank acct lumber at the back of the cheque and drop into the cheque deposick box outside the banks
Oh.
But I don't have $1000. >.<
How do I create a bank account if I don't have $1000? >.<

I missed that part. In that case, go with Uniplus. Either way, you can't go wrong with UOB. Enjoyed the times when you can walk to an ATM and withdraw money straight away, then smile at those lining at the long POSB queue.
One minimum sum to open account, and one minimum sum to avoid service chage of $2 or $7.50. Look it up.

But there not many UOB atms around.
maintain $500 in your account (for most basic savings account)
If you got a POSB savings account. Go to the bank and ask them to convert your pass book account to a pass card account.
Its the same account, except with the pass card account, your pass book is no longer in use, and you will receive the bank statement by mail every month. They will also issue you a card, for use when you do OTC transactions. At the same time you can apply for an ATM card.
Drawback: You can't update you account as and when you like, because the pass book is no longer in use, you have to wait for the monthly statement.
the current one is eSavings
no p/book
if wanna view transactions, u can do do via internet banking
