no it wont.its electrically designed to off by itself unless your house was left untouched since 1960s.
if you overload a power point then there's a high risk of a fire breaking out..
and have you bought a fire insurance for your house..

Got buy fire insurance but will rather there be no fire than to claim from insurance..
Its just like you buy insurance for yourself but you rather nothing happens to you than to claim the money.
Never overload power point. Its just the mio modem that is connected to the power switch

You mean if a fire breaks out the power switch will off by itself?
its always best to switch things of sizeable power consumption off before u leave the house.like a tv etc....the fridge it seems like u are used to having it on all the time cept the other stuff.as long as they dont explode like a battery charger or some computer or aircon.u may leave them on 24hrs n its safe as long as u are used to it and the safety electrical gears are well designed properly as in CP5.

before a fire breks out.....thge safety gears in house would switch off the entire house supply .unless u have purchased a faulty laptop or computer etc etc.best to switch off tiny but potential fire hazards off.no point riskin in all.

then you shouldn't worry & I'm sure most pple (if not all) willl leave their modem on for 24/7/365..

So will just 1 mio modem connected to the power switch explodes like a batter charger causing a fire?

a modem....nope if they have not much heat generated.
as long as the electrical stuff dont feel like it could fry an egg then its ok to leave it on.......if its spoilt no big deal..just like all spoilt dvd players and lcd tv sets...just buy a new one!no smoke there as these are sensitive electronics items.just prepare to buy a new modem only.no fire n no smoke.
Mine also Mio, switched on 24 hour. No big deal if you put your router at a good spot so that it can cool down.
It will burn a hole in your wallet.
That is the flaw with MIO.
Which is why I am still stuck with the green tube.
the power consumption is not high
dun overload tt socket

even if you on the power socket 24 hours a day, it doesn't consume much electricity in a month.
Still cheaper than if you take up a home plan, hp and internet plan all separtely
To the consumers, signing up with red, orange or green does not make a difference.
They are all ah kong company and increase price anytime to increase profit.
Just like they want to limit 3G usage cos they dun want to build more infastructure to support more bandwidth.
We are at their mercy.

Yup but Mio plan seems to be the cheapest among all the available plans in the market
Modems don't use much electricity. But they do emit quite a lot of heat. Either way, a fire is extremely unlikely so long as you do not overload the sockets with many appliances. If you want to use an adaptor, use the safer, ''tube'' ones, not the ''cube'' versions.
Trust me, I've left my modems on for months on end... believe it or not there were brown markings on them due to the extreme heat.
Anyway, next time try not to leave things on if you can avoid it... I usually turn off everything except the fridge in my house when I'm going on long trips. ![]()
As long as you do not demand more current from the powerpoint than it can give then the chance of fire should be low
A sudden/accidental short circuit should be 'safe', as ideally the fuse should blow, and the circuit breaker will trip once it detects unusual amount of current drawn.
I have been leaving the modem on for few years, still have not caught fire yet, however it is quite hot.
Give the modem some space to ventilate the heat into the surrounding air and it should be fine

Do you know why? There are some things that they do not want you do know.
After my family signed up the MIO, then we discovered the dark secret that they doesn't tell us during the signing up. FUCK Them!
i had it on since 20/4/2010
nothing happen
I have left the mio modem on since 2007 until now and nothing happens.
But still worried that 1 day something will happen

Not much dark secrets except that waste electricity as must on it 24 hours a day in order to use plus if modem spoilds you cannot use both phone and internet.
Even if the modem spoilds just call singtel and ask them to send their technicians down to see which will take a few days..
But these are really only small problems which does not cause alot of inconvience..
Don't worry man, be happy ! ![]()
There's an even darker secret that I can't share with you.
Just wanna hint to other forumers.
If you have been a singtel customer for a long time and one day they asked if you want to take up the fibre optic plan, just say Yes and take up the cheapest fibre optic plan.
