LOL...
I have learned new terms today.
E.g : Fagbagsters. How many of your friends are actually fagbagsters and how many your everyday-normal-down-to-earth-peeps ?
Cracks me up though.

Most of what he said was hillariously spot on. Unfortunately the 'sneaking into the clubs a whiskey flask' is kinda cheap. Nevertheless, its all about bang-for-buck.
So I let yous all be the judge.
Great read lol! thoroughly enjoyed it! :D
Very niche and specific sub-culture.......aka....only those downtown SPGs or those Pinoy / Thai semi-pros and sugar daddy seekers and such is covered by the reviewer.......Me prefers quiet shy reserved type of girl who has class and elegance.......not those who visit Orchard / Clarke Quay / Boat Quay bars and pubs to hunt for foreigners.......
One last problem with Singapore is the retardation of the locals.
Maybe it’s the heat, but the Singaporean brains just don’t work in the same way that yours and mine work.
Expect very bad, slow service, and a complete lack of ability by the locals to make decisions independently or to engage in abstract thought.
Blank stares and incomprehensible “Singlish” are the norm and you must be prepared to wait forever for your change at bars.
Singaporean society has a very top-down command structure so the rank-and-file people are not asked to think for themselves.
Even the simplest request that is not by-the-book will be met with stupefaction and a “can not lah” by the locals.
Need something at a restaurant or bar?
Just get it for yourself and you’ll save 15 minutes.
Have a different idea that will be mutually beneficial? Just keep it to yourself unless you’re talking the president of the company.

He doesn't understand that Singapore is an authoritarian country ruled by a minority group over majority.
This is a problem that Singapore must solve in order to progress.
If these two problems are solved, there will be progression. If it is not solved, there will be regression.
Autocratic rule by a minority over majority, these are the two problems retarding the progression of Singapore.
Those interested in political problems in Singapore must understand these two problems.
Nope....nothing to do with political system.........Political system will not affect someone's behaviour and mannerism.......this is at a deeper level.......at a cultural and anthropological level.....
The reason why some people like him have an impression that people in Singapore are "robots".....is because mostly they themselves come from cultural group and anthropological group which there is a higher degree of individualism and less collectivism.
In other words, it is simply a form of cultural shock.
Singaporeans are generally more reserved, quiet, collectivist, because it is the nature of Eastern societies and peoples.
Please note that those who say Singaporeans lack creativity are almost always 99% of the time Westerners.
You will not see a Japanese tourist or a Korean tourist saying Singaporeans are robots who are controlled.
So because of this cultural shock, they misunderstand it, they try to find possible explanations, but they still use their framework and their point of reference, they do not look at cultural anthropological angle, and so one avenue that they inevitably reach is always the socio-political sphere and they mistakenly think that it must be the reason.

My belief is that it is due to authoritarian political system.
Sim Wong Hoo has similar criticisms:
No U-turn syndrome

you make me avoid coffee while surfing the forums .....
I have a different perspective and understanding of the No-U-Turn Syndrome that is described by Sim Wong Hoo.
To me it showcase an orderly, courteous, and considerate commuting behaviour that should be applauded and commended.
In some countries, the traffic is chaotic, cars dont stop at zebra crossings, and sometimes cars and motorbikes almost hit each other.
So I have an 180 degree opposite impression than him.
To me it is a positive, not a negative.
Of course because he is an IT entrepreneur, he is having some problems in his work, and so he has a different thinking, he thinks Singapore lacks creativity and is too stifling, but actually, is that really true ?
The reason why Creative lost to Apple , is not because the Singaporean staff lacks creativity compared to Apple staff.
It is because Apple taps in American human-resource, which has much bigger pool , better critical mass, better ability to attract talents from all over the globe, and they have bigger market, better access to capital, and everything else.
Singapore is so small.....finally at the higher level of competition, there is an upper limit which simply cannot be broken through....there is an upper ceiling....
So thats why Creative lost to Apple.
It's because Singapore is small, not because Singaporean drivers dont dare to drive their cars U-Turn without a sign.
Finally I come back again to my main theme,
We should look at the deeper underlying factors and not be easily taken in by gimmicks.
