Hi everyone! May i ask if there are any doctors out here? or people who know about occupation of doctors. Well you see, i want to be a doctor, a physician at a clinic preferably. However, I have no idea how to start with.
For your info, i am just sec 3 this year and i know there's a long way to go, but i would like to know the path i must take. My subject combi for o levels is Triple Sciences along with Amaths and Emaths. And my A maths is kinda suckish. But i can occasionally get a C5 to B3 during exams. I am 100% singaporean, and i am trying to find the path to take. Someone please guide me :(. I love Biology btw and i am average in it.
you need to score straight As for your A levels. even with that, it is not guaranteed you will get into medical school as there are many others with the same grade.
so why do you want to be a doctor?
kinda my aspiration you see... i was sick all the time when i was young and doctors always cheered me up :) god straight As? :(
straight As can't guarantee you a place in yong loo lin school of medicine.
Though triple science isn't a requirement, it's good that you take triple science during o and A levels. Preferably with 2 S papers for A levels.
@dangerboi thanks! very encouraging. I will try and strive hard to achieve my goal. :D
for a start, all A1s for ur Os

phd better than medical degree

When I was young, the decepticons always cheered me up. But that can't kinda remain my aspiration.![]()
Yeah, straight As, and make sure your CCA contribution can bring your score to negative value. You can't get into the top JC with 0 points these days. Pardon me, but I ain't sure how the system works these days.![]()
Doctors are not so smart la, if they were, why are there millions of them?
Be doctor good lah, hope more doctors in the world. Everyone should be a doctor if they can. lol. not me... i don't like to work, i like to be a fatty bomb bomb.
I know of two friends who didn't get good grades. One went to Indonesia to study meds. The other went to Russia to study meds.
First one came back - he became a substandard doctor.
The other one gave up because he could not bare the Moscow winter.
Long course, hard mugging, hard exams, compulsory attachment for years with low pay (if you come back to Singapore, that's why 2/5 of those who study abroad stay there). It'll be years before you make a profit. Know a doctor who only broke even at age 40.
Just study hard......and have a talk with your parents.....
(because the cost is quite high....and maybe if u cannot get in locally, try going overseas. So all this need to have a discussion with ur parents)
That's what i think too .
