Ex convict - please help them

Many ex-convict is poor thing. firstly, they cannot be housing agent, cannot work in IRs, Cannot work in governmen sector, cannot work as cab driver. Many did not get what goverment offer.
I wish to highlight. Anyone can help them?

Not true (everything you mention). Ex-convict cannot work in Casino, where involvement of cash or gaming is involved. Other aspects like logistics possible, although I agree casino is tough industry for them.
But they can work as taxi driver so long as their offences did not involve violence, I ex-drug offenders now also can. They can work in govt sector for certain jobs, of course you don't expect the govt to hire them for jobs like law enforcement! And many others, provided they are willing to work hard. If they got certain skills like chefs, mechanics, etc, definitely not tough to find jobs.
Best way is to ask them to consult SCORE, which have a range of jobs that might suit them, or contact the Yellwo Ribbon Project.

i personally have a friend who was in jail for man slaughtering before , 8 years inside 55 .
Came out , a few years nothing to do , asked me for advice , also worried cannot approved .
i told him "try , never try u'll never know "
He tried , and funny enough , LTA approved his application without even need to see his MP .
He drove for a while and quit a few years later , to do business .

very noble of you to raise this topic! They are amongst the beneficiaries but little attention falls on them. I mean, compared to common headlines on orphanage and old folks home when comes to volunteer works or to extend help in. :)

newspaper got report a chef is a ex-convict, he started his own restaurant and hire ex-convict.
Who tell you no job for them?

when one door is closed, there's always another open, don't pick and choose sure can find one lah, sectors like food & service, retail, they are constantly short of staff, just don't expect high salary ($1500 - $2000), long hours are expected, and most probably you'll be brushing side by side with lots of FT colleagues, for me.... i suggest driving cab. -
Obviously there are certain jobs that are closed to certain groups of ex-cons.
Convicted paedophiles cannot work in childcare, obviously. Neither can convicted house burglars work as condo security guards.
That said, as others have pointed out, there are always opportunities for employment. Just don't have too high expectations.

They have SCORE, halfway house and so many places to help them. In fact, they are better off than most people who got retrenched at middle age.Dont worry about them.
like the 10 pm drama, the prison does not change the person. It is the person who change himself.

Yes ex convicts have difficulty finding jobs. Once commit a crime - game over. Most ex convict go back to their criminal ways. That is why mostly who come out of prison are not reform because it is almost impossible to restart normal life. It is true. So before you break the law think twice or else your normal life is over. Most homeless people are ex con.

there are many of them deployed in simple retail trades......and many are on parole and have their legs tagged....but they wear long pants so that the tags could not be seen while working.... all of them need a chance...and look forward to more companies joining in the yellow ribbon scheme to help them out....
