I think my "inner gangster" will start to come out, so I'll snicker at him, hoping to get more reaction. But if he's with friends and I'm alone, quickly siam to the back.

As a guy, for me, there are 2 ways I will solve this problem. 1 way is to ignore. 2nd way is to beat the other guy up. A good heavy punch will render the other guy unconscious. Which way I choose depends on my mood and my situation. If I got nothing to lose, more likely I will beat up the other guy and go into prison. The guy won't die but I will make sure he got a few ugly scars so that when I'm in prison and come out in a couple of years, he will remain scarred for the rest of his life. If I got something big to lose, then more likely I go with option 1. It's a calculaton of risk vs reward.
If the other party is a girl, then lan lan suck thumb walk away.

Punch the fella first without warning, like in that vid above.
You won't go to prison, at the most police will advice that fella to make a magistrate's complaint. That type of person won't bother to go to the magistrate.
