  Hello, i am looking at it from a different point of view

  What i will do if i am gambler
  

  I may borrow a very large amount of money from loansharks, go for a gambling course, and win a bigger sum from the casino.

  Harrassment from loansharks can be deterred by paying them promptly.

  What i will do if i am a the innocent neighbours

  I will get all my neighbours and make sure that the one who borrowed money pays up promptly.

  You are the innocent victim. The borrower is the previous flat owner. You called up the "ah long" to explain but they refused to listen. Ah long runners continued to harass your unit. You made a Police report. A few runners were arrested but the problem did not stop. Your unit was targeted by another group of runners. What can you do before you decide to buy a resale flat? # Check the background of the seller. # Make a check with the seller neighbours. # Lookout for new paintworks outside the unit. Is there any channels for potential buyer to conduct check? Can potential buyer make a check with Police or Town Council?

  I think education is the best option. Lower secondary students should be educated on the impact of compulsive gambling and the consequences of taking a loan from unlicensed money lenders. More so before they learn about on line gambling. Who should be responsible to educate them? Police? School? NCPG? MCYS? Parents?

  We should not place flammable object outside our flat. We should call EMSU to clear away flammable objects such as newspaper, pamphlets and clothes found discarded at common areas such as lift landing, staircase landing and void deck. Because loanshark runners may pick up such items to set up fire at their targeted flat. Look out for strangers carrying bag at common areas of your HDB block. Take note of their attire and descriptions. Call Police when we sensed something fishy. Seek assistance from Resident Commitee and Town Council to install CCTV inside the lift.
