I signed up with Starhub about a year ago, defaulted on payment and my line was terminated!
Debt collectors have been sending me letters and I've been ignoring them. I have other bills to pay and I don't make enough to pay them all.
I called the debt collector and tried to negotiate on an installment plan. But she said that I have defaulted on as issued installment plan and therefore had to make FULL payment of $400++ by 08.08.2012 6pm. This call was at 2pm on the same day. If I do not make full payment, legal actions will be taken against me on 10.08.2012.
Stressed! Now what will happen?
Go to court? then? Are these debt collectors lawyers? Or will they forward this case to actual lawyers? Called Starhub, they say cannot do anything, all up to the legal matters side. Stress.
P.S. I am still a student.

Please notify your parents about this debt.
Debt collectors will forward your case to legal.
$400 not much, better to settle before court add penalty.
By then you parents will find out anyway, and they will be more upset u kept this from them when they could easily settle before.
You can pay back your parents in installments later.
Please exercise better financial judgements in the future.
Running away will not solve any problem, only make things worst.
the morale of the story is to teach you to always practise financial prudence and management at all times.
the lesson you learnt is to spend below what you earn (the limit line).
this served as a base for "Owe $, Pay $".
if you head is not big, then don't wear too big cap.
you are considered very lucky as it's a proper business-licenced company.
if you are to try your default payment story with loansharks/ banks, your home is either gone case with paint or repossessed by bank to auction off to repay the bank loan.
$400 ++ also want to take you to court?
Take you to court loh.
What a waste of the court's time. Starhub is hillarious.

telcos shd stop selling to students.
1) Talk to your parents. Ya, they will lecture you. Your ears suffer a bit for a while, that's ok. Most importantly is to solve this problem permanently.
2) Go to your MP and ask your MP to talk on your behalf.
