I had since begun to feel the effect when Singtel stole Spanish La Liga way from Starhub. I can't help it but feel like planting a bomb at Singtel's headquarters!
I am a huge football fan and I love watching the superstars of La Liga like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. I am a Starhub Cable TV subscriber for years and just having suddenly something taken away from you after a long time is like removing part of your heart. Now I had to rely on laggy football streams on the internet to get my constant La Liga fix! This is sick to my stomach!
The government cross-carriage law took effect on 1 August 2011 but it had yet to affect the rival Pay TV companies, Singtel and Starhub and I want to find out why!
Can't anyone see that Starhub is always kind enough to share its content while Singtel is selfish and possessive? Take Euro 2012 for example! Starhub had offered to share the content with Singtel after winning the rights to broadcast the tournment but Singtel refused to share its London 2012 Olympic content with Starhub!
You may suggest that I subscribed to both Singtel and Starhub so I get to watch all the football leagues but having 2 set-tops boxes is going to cost a 'bomb'! The rival companies are simply taking advantage of us!
I hope the government will one day force both companies to come together to form a new Pay TV company(eg. Singhub). Doesn't that sounds nice?
Instead of whining, why don't you try to be an entrepreneurship who create your own brand of cable TV sport channel ? And for those who are interested in the idea of enterpreneurship, there are 2 international non-profit organization which help to support start-up and networking :
1) Youth Entrepreneurship Alliance : http://www.yealeaders.org
2) Chinese Young Entrepreneur and Mentor Association (Cyema) : http://cyema.org
Those who feel they have the idea, innovation and like more opportunities can contact : [email protected] , may your dream came true ! ![]()
Does that mean that I will have to fork out loads of cash for those TV rights in order to start my own sports channel?
Maybe Action Community for Entrepreneuriship is the right place or people to answer your question : http://www.ace.sg
