Seems Singapore has falling into the world of misleading advertising so much to the point that my wife even defends it....
For instance go to Standard Charter Singapore website and look up the various bank accounts that a Expat or forgnier can open, One is called the Supersalary account. The eligibility requirements seem easy enough and the fees are wonderful, but after calling and going to several different branches it's seems impossible to open this account. I spent 2 days after starting my first job here trying to get a bank account so that I could get paid via giro. It was a nightmare!
Secondly Levis store, you have all seen the TV Add or heard the radio spot. Bring us your old jeans and we will give you a 100 dollars. No they wont, they will give you a 50 dollar discount on your next purchase in the store and another 50 dollars in vouchers(coupons) to be used in the Levis Store.
I no longer find it amusing when we get 13% rebate on gas at Caltex if we use our OCBC card or 16% back at SPC if we use our POSB card, I asked Caltex if I pay cash do I still get the 13% off and they said yes..so if everyone is getting this discount regaurdless of cash or credit card, is it really a discount??? Put the price you are going to charge on the pump. It has been tried and proven in the USA and other countries, you put the lowest possible price that you deem will still earn you a profit and the business will come. In 90% of retail you make money on turning over volume, not on the single sale.
That's what T&Cs, and *** are for.
tts wat advertising is for
and yes, read fine print, every fucking word.
