Thanks, I am. When you lived on a freehold landed property, when you are on full retirement there isn't any monthly maintenance fee unlike when you live in the condominium which will cost RM300 to maybe RM500 per month. However, you need to maintain the condition of the house...and for me I enjoy doing DIY handyman kind of things to past time but if I can't handle it then I will simply call the local handyman to do it for me.
Hahaha...I am happy for you.
I am planning to save $ first...when I had saved enough, I'll retire!

I hope by the time you save enough money you can afford to buy a property abroad and retire.
How much is a typical terrace house corner type in malaysia? If Singaporeans wanna buy must pay how much extra tax or anything?

Hi, I am looking to retire in JB soon too. Buying a semi d there now but yet to get state consent.
I am 39 years old now and have 2 young boys. Buying a resale semi d at Austin Heights. Hope to retire by 45 years old by renting out my terrace and MM unit for passive income of about S$5000 which should enable my family to live quite comfortably in JB. Sons may either attend an international school or commute by RTS which should be up by 2019 to Sg. I may semiretire then, working mornings to wait for them to be off school.
Looking forward to retirement or semiretirement soon.
Will need to save up these few years to pay off terrace mortgage in Sg and also for MM2H deposit.
Cars are so much cheaper and road tax too in Malaysia. With RTS, I will not need a Sg car and that will save me a lot...

If only jb can be safer...
I'll surely move there ![]()
don't think I'll live here.... maybe I'll migrate anyway ![]()
I bought a resale as it was cheaper at least compared to Bestari Heights which I nearly bought. Also feel safer with an already completed house in case developer run road.
Have not decided when to shift over yet. MM unit in Sg yet to TOP so no rental income from there yet. If I shift now, only about S$800 passive income, if when MM is rented out by next year or 2016, S$2800 or so passive income, if I wait 3 to 4 years, S$5k passive income so maybe I should wait...
Zulkifli, whereabouts did u buy in JB? Did u buy more than one? Hope to learn more from yr experience semiretiring there...whatabout kids and their schooling?
Actually, my seller has to give a bumi release letter before state consent can be given. She misunderstood that state consent was rejected and had wanted to terminate the sale so we have explained to her and now awaiting her reply. She would have to pay 10% of purchase price as damages if she still insists to terminate so hopefully she will not.
