Hi guys
I'm entering UQ this yr for july intake. Am looking for accomodation now.
I know that there are options for residential college, renting off campus, or other student units like unilodge.
I decided not to go for residential college because I heard need 2 referees for to apply which I don't know who can help me to be my referee and another reason is I heard the colleges are quite noisy also.
Also, I know renting is the cheapest option but I feel uneasy with this option because it cannot be prebooked.
Therefore now I am focusing on finding student units. I looked up unilodge which IDP recommend but find the price too high. From the uq website about option for long term accommodation off campus, there are other places like urbanest, altitude apts, the pad student accommodation. My budget is about AUD$250 per mth. Wonder if anyone know about these places i mention or stay there before / can recommend other good student units that can prebook? I will greatly appreciate any information or reviews, thank you
Unilodge is the priciest cubicle you could pay for and it's at gardens point, not st Lucia where your uni is.
Youshould be looking for shared accommodations in the St Lucia, taringa or imdooroopilly area to cut your travel time.
If youcan stay along sir Fred schonnel drive, you got huge supermarket and the world's best fish and chips I reckon in the world at your doorstep.
probably enquire and discuss with monastery monk, pay them abit more monthly for cultivating blessing. Sure a great place for study....
and dont play play with the man sweeping floor inside monastery library, usually his kung fu is the highest.
$250 per month, That is $62.50 per week . How about electricity , broadband internet ? I am not sure whether you are in Queensland at the moment . If you are , when you walk around the campus , there should be ad. on accommodation, mainly on students' notices board. Previously some of my mates managed to find decent accommodation through assistance from the church , in which some of the elderly folks were renting out single room for overseas students.
Welcome to Queensland XD
250AUD per month is really a tight budget as usually cheap share house is about $110 per week for a single room in Sunny Bank area (nr Griffith), and 160+ for single rooms near UQ.(St Lucia)
If you are really on a tight budget, my suggestion is, find a tempory accomondation first, then rent a whole house near the uni or close to transport and sublease the rooms to other students. Many students do this to save cost on accomondation.
If you can read chinese, you may want to check out the brisbane shared accomondation forum on ozyoyo.com and find your first accomondation there.
I do not suggest Unilodge or whatever accomondation options provided by university. The pricing is unreasonable for the quality of the room and very noisy also, most are exchange students who party until the am. I stayed there before( Griffith Village) and moved out in a month as i really couldnt stand the noice.
I live on the Gold Coast with two other girls and im happy to host for a day or two if u come over to visit. Our apartment is 50m to the beach :D
that budget can oni share house plus share room
