I moved in to this apartment Palazetto in Tanjong Rhu. AFter a month, i found termintes. The landlord has been very uncooperative in turning this into a livable condition.
It was 3 months later before it was acted upon.
Now 9 months later another nest has been found.
The landlord hired a real estate agent to represent her. But the agent has not been illusive. They are suppose to be here every time the pest control comes in but she is never here.
Thank goodness I have only a year's contract.
I'm outta here in a few months.
Please check for termites when you move into a new place, before you sign the lease. Otherwise, those insects will bug you and you cant get out of the lease as Singapore laws protect the landlord before it protects the tenant

why is it a must for the agent to be present?
containment action to such issue while your lease is up is simpler.
You need to buy 4 tubs. small one can do. fill each four tubs with water. put your bed 4 wooden or metal legs on the tub of water, one leg on each tubs.
sleep. no terminte can cross the moat and bite you now. dont place the bed near walls or doors, maybe inchhes away from the room corners.
PS- you need to have a four legged preferably bed with metal legs for this containment action to be effective.
i have seen this situation before, actually there's a condo that a lot of units are termites infested. the condo management knows of this also. but its very hard to remove it.
so the owner sold off the unit to an unknowing buyer.
lesson: always check for termites before buying and renting a place
