Traveling to Singapore

Hello, I am an American and will hopefully be traveling to Singapore within the next year because my girlfriend lives there...I've asked her stuff about the country but she's a bit of an "air head" so maybe someone here can help me out.
My main concern is, do you all hate white Americans? When I try to get a cab will all of them drive by because I'm white? I am not as skinny as most Asian guys so will I be stared at because you would consider me huge? Will the locals try to make my time in Singapore absolutely miserable? Also is Serangoon village awesome?
The reason I ask is I had a friend that traveled there and he said racism against whites is common but that was 6-7 years ago.

sgporeans dont like foreigners who r too stuck up, be humble n talk softly n u'll be safe...in fact cabbie here r more than happy to fetch a white as they believed they r generous with their tips. most of the whites here like to go boat quay to look for spg. u can try yr luck there or sun at lucky plaza if u prefer pinoy.

There is no racism here, because we are a multi-racial, multi-cultural city state. We defintely welcome all tourists. Singapore is made up of more foreigners than locals. You will enjoy your stay here unless you misbehave yourself here. Welcome to Singapore.

I am ok with caucasians but Americans ,,,, erm erm................. I don't prefer Americans.
Generally, the people here welcome the caucasians to Singapore for a short stay/tour. Don't worry, you will not encounter serious problems here.

I am really not negative about Singaporeans or I wouldn't want to travel across the entire world just to meet my lovely girlfriend who happens to be a Singaporean. I only asked those things because my friend dealt with some of those issues, hwoever maybe he is the real airhead in my story.

You would be treating with respect, as long as you treat the local with respect. Try not to be too stuck up like other white people. Don't think because your coutnry is bigger, you can raise your head against us.
If you do all the following above, i believe any question you ask from local would be answer willingy.. And ya of course be nice to the old and needy people... THAN you would survive the wraith of stomp. :D
Anyway i know in america, its normal to give tips in restrauant because there is no service charges. But in singapore, the company will charge you "service charge" base on your food amount. It's good to give tips, but some company require the waiter or waitress to give the tips back to the company.
