Hi All. Anybody buying toiletries online? I mean products like body and facial wash, detergents, etc.
facial wash yes
body wash and detergents too heavy. shipping will kill.
I am thinking of selling those products online. But before that, i want to do some survey.
Like you said, shipping cost is killing.
Roughly, how much are you willing to spend if there is free delivery? Or rather, how much is the delivery cost that you think is worth to buy them online?
Waiting for more inputs from others ![]()
Maybe you should focus on smaller items like eyecream, face creams etc
Yeah, it's possible to include that too. At the moment, i only thought of all those basic/mostly used items in every households.
But still, i do not know if people prefer to buy online or go down to ntuc :) Or what will attract them to buy online instead.
Price and convience... Unfortunately, these 2 are relative of each other...
If it is grossly expensive then ppl might just head down to ntuc to buy. The price for convienence must be something which peope can accept...
Next is rarity. For example, brands which NTUC or wat-so-ever does not carry. However, for these brands not carried out by supermarkets, have to check with HSA incase it's not allowed for sale in Singapore...
I know HSA does not allow some skin creams in Singapore...
As a starter, i thought i would sell those widely known and used brands in the market.
I want to offer convenience to people. But like you said, the price for convenience has to be acceptable. So,I am wondering what kind of level will be acceptable....
Different ppl different level...
Different type of ppl different level....
Basically different families with different purchasing power will have different preference (which is also affected by different mentality etc)...
Very hard to do survey here just like tat... If NTUC dun chase u off, I suggest u do the old fashion hardworking way of going down to nearby NTUC and do surveys... Try to target the majority younger groups (older group might not know online shopping -__-)...
From there u have to measure if u wanted growth of market share or profit... better to cheap offers, promotion first to attract traction and word of mouth... Do a quirky youtube video and try to make use of various social media for marketing effect... The rest is all about management...
where u get ur stock?
how much is the minimum before u offer free shipping?
S$150? S$200?
can u beat FP and CS?
No need to beat CS, NTUC, or watsons, and guardian giving offer.
Can you beat CK first or not?
CK no delivery
If every purhase will be charged a fix dlvry cost of $3 and every purchase has to be min $40, will u buy?
I have not work out everything yet. Thks for all ur opinions :)
Price this:

And these:

I can not get the prices of products from suppliers now. They do not want to entertain somebody who is still just planning. Any idea how can i get the cost of goods info? Coz i want to know what the gross profit margin is like.
Some products are cheaper at ck, some are cheaper at venus or swanston.
I asked for quotations and may be because i said i am planning, that's why the guy told me to come back later after all is set :(

i think ur profit is like..............$0.52
after petrol cost.
I think if you carry on talk like that to suppliers, they will help you absorb your profit margin.
