Hi,
I'm going to SG for an internship (yay, summer in Singapore!), and I've been talking to this hostel for some weeks already, discussing rooms and so...
And then, just when I'm about to confirm my 2-month period stay with them, they come to me and say:
"We make a 1-month contract, or you can pay 3 months to stay 2!"
What the...? I told them all along that I was staying 2 months, they never told me anything! What's the problem of paying twice the 1-month rent? If they have 1-month period, they logically should have 2, no? I'm not asking for a discount, just to pay twice the normal price, that's all!
So I wonder, is this kind of normal, or are they some shady dealers? Maybe it's just a cultural thing I'm not used to? Do you find it ok, or should I look for somewhere else?
probably it's a 1 mth deposit
it is a common practice
u will get it back when u return the room
and if u spoil anything in the room, they deduct from the deposit
No, actually they said "3 month contract with 2 month stay", so I wonder, is there a law that says something about that? Because the total amount seems correct (2 months rent + deposit, versus 1 month rent + deposit for 1 month stay), but the phrasing is ambiguous, so I'm afraid they might actually change their mind later...
no other place to stay? must let others hold you by your neck.
shaday hostel I dunno, but it's sure a hazey hostel I can confirm ![]()
either u clarify or u find another one
so difficult?
how to survive in SG?
