HI I am currently in sec 3 and I really want to take up a career in the navy as a Naval Officer when i grow up but i do not know what course to take after O levels that will help me in the future. I heard that you have to do well in BMT and they will interview you to join the Navy. IS that true?
Doubt it...
But why do you want a career in RSN?

Efforts are underway to make sure there is a ready pool of Singaporeans to fill these jobs.
The Singapore Maritime Officers Union has a programme that aims to train 500 cadets every year.
The Tripartite Nautical Training Award started in 2009 and has trained 108 Singaporeans so far.
The programme has a mix of government and union funding, as well as support from the Singapore Shipping Association.
More than S$6 million has been invested into the programme. Another S$4 million will be pumped into training infrastructure.
The maritime sector today contributes more than 7 per cent of the country's GDP, and hires about 170,000 people.
But it remains a challenge to attract Singaporeans to take on a seafaring career.
Speaking
at a maritime conference, Acting Manpower Minister Tan Chuan-Jin said
he wants to see more well-paying jobs in the sector going to
Singaporeans.
He said: "We expect companies to put in the effort
to develop the Singaporean core, to develop that pipeline, so that
Singaporeans at all levels can be trained, developed, so that when the
opportunity arises, it makes sense to also look at Singaporeans to take
up some of these positions."
Hanor, why do you want a naval career? You still need to go BMT regardless you know. If sharing bunk beds, and using vacuum type toilets are your thing, then yes the navy is for you.
I personally think it is a good career irregardless of being with the RSN or with the Maritime Industry.
I understand you are only Secondary 3. Do not dwell too much on it until you have completed your studies. Work hard.
