I'm sure many secondary school/Junior College students have know some China scholars in your schools scoring results that are seemingly impossible to reach (90+ for H2 Maths etc.) But when asked what's their secret to scoring so well, they said they just study & memorize the same way any other student would do before exams.
I heard from my seniors that China scholars usually study till 2 am every night, but I don't buy into that. I think they're just exaggerated rumors to explain their excellent grades. Some of my friends say that China's education gave them really solid foundation, such that they can grasp concepts much faster than the rest.
Anybody know their secret to doing so well?
They're not lying, they really do.
I agree with ditzy.. They really do that but not sure if they study till 2am.
And 1 thing u can't believe. Most of them whom I know don't go tuition for English and manage to get good results.
Some say they managed to memorize the English dictionary as well as all sorts of essays. I have seen China scholars who top the level in English by Sec 4. Craziness.
Wheel gotta say China's education foundation is very good.

But memorising will not do them so well in university. Well, people might say that I trying to be a sore loser, but memorising the english dictionary and essays? WTF.
The thing is they can do it, can you?
Go look at china school math syllabus... They learn algebra and physics at primary 2... You say not good?
I just got to know a guy from China(he studied in china until year 1 uni).
The thing is he tell me about the culture in china is that their exam last within 2 days unlike our A level exams which last 2 weeks? Their exam last 2 days and they have only one paper for each exam. They were not allowed to use calculator for any papers even for maths and science(but obviously the values the teachers set will be something that they can handle when they calculate).
Their school hours is no joke...From morning 6am they go to school until 9pm. And when nearing their exam, they will practice papers after paper for like 2 weeks or so (remember it's papers after papers the whole day).
I remembered he told me when the school blackout, everyone is still mugging. He managed to find a candle for lighting and memorise the whole book. Also, when they were in high-school, they already started learning all s,p,d and f orbitals and it's relating quantum mechanics concept. @_@
They can seriously study non-stop. When I told him about how Singapore culture is like. For instance, people will call you names like closet mugger, mugger if you are study alot and the ways that Singaporeans behave in lecture theatre, he was extremely shocked by the way we behave. In Singapore uni, even beforethe lecturer is about to end his lecture, everyone will chiong out and started talking. He told me in China was that the moment the lecturer end their lecture, everyone will run down straight to the lecture hall to ask questions.
On hindsight, I totally don't understand how come they are able to mug so professionally. Totally hats off. Having second thoughts pursueing my Chemical Engineering degree in NUS. X_X
Personally, I am only able to mug til 12am.

But I am not too worried because they cheat and can't produce originality. If they just copy and paste [die die memorise english essay] they probably can't produce any innovation.
Anyway China's education are really in popular demand and can be in any areas, just looking at their education market site you can see : http://www.egaobo.com
be afraid. be very afraid.
