PM Lee is doing his duty to catch the hacker who creates the unrest and causes all the inconveniences.
If the hacker is to really carry out his threat of attacking the essential infra-structure of Singapore, it will become criminal and the hacker must be dealt with severe punishment.

Just a few doubts that I was hoping you could clarify for me.
Did the hacker threaten to attack essential infrastructure of sg?
Were you able to access the internet? Had your credit card details stolen maybe…encountered traffic lights that were behaving wierdly…omg I hope no one was injured. Most important of all, your TV working right?
Cos I read that it was mostly .gov.sg websites that were down for maintenance. You know the usual router issues. It was all too sudden so they had no time give any notice. The poor chaps must have OT to replace the router.
Well rest assured the govt will indeed protect our essential infrastructure. Our TV by god the nerve these scoundrels have.
Off to school now got to study hard so you can contribute and protect our essential infrastructures in future.
You have intentionally to misread my post.
lip service is cheap.

Sg Gov forsee the threats to their .gov websites, that is why they decided to do a maintanence at the same time.
Nothing to see here. Everyone should just go back to continue earning money for their overlords.
How come no one posted this more convincing link :)
Anyone could have printed out the so called "SOP" . Its maintenance god damnit!
Unfortunately, as their Anonymous name suggests, the internet is too anonymous to know whether this is just an another anonymous threat or if they have, anonymously or not-so-anonymously, been the culprit of the seemingly anonymous blackouts in Singapore. It is also easy for the govt to cover this up under the veil of anonymity, or maybe these was really random, anonymous disruptions.
Basically, it's a headache thinking about who is the one trying to save face or both are. So the best thing to do is to be an anonymous Anonymous spectator!
Anonymous don't give a warning in advance, do they?
din they?

Get this right, Lee. The game is between auncle lee hsien loong/PAP and hackers. If hackers have intention to hack the essential infrastructure they would not issue message to tell govt to serve the people.
Please don't learn from auncle lee hsien loong to drag all people in when the game is between pap govt and Anonymous! Be smart!
The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) said in a statement at about 1.30am on Friday that "a subpage for search on the PMO website was reported to be compromised" on Thursday at 11.17pm.
"A vulnerability in that subpage was exploited to display pages from other sources. This vulnerability is known as cross-site scripting," said the IDA.

If you read the news posted in the thread carefully, the "actual" message why hackers challenged the gahmen is because of they did not want internet restriction from the gahmen.

A page on the Istana website was compromised early Friday morning, shortly after a page on the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) website was also hacked.
In a statement at noon Friday, the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) said the two incidents were due to a vulnerability known as "cross-site scripting", typically found in Web applications that allows hackers to bypass access controls.
"Both the PMO and Istana main websites are still working, and we will restore the compromised pages as soon as possible. The matter is under investigation," the IDA said in its statement.
"We will continue to strengthen all Government websites. This includes the checking and fixing of vulnerabilities and software patching. While this is in progress, visitors to Government websites may experience intermittent problems with access. This will be completed as soon as possible," the IDA said, while apologising for any inconvenience caused.
